CLFG Capital Corp. (CLFG Cap) was officially introduced to the employees of CLFG companies through an economic briefing following its theme "Shifting to Higher Gear." It was held on January 21, 2012 at the CLF1 Bldg. Training Room. The event was divided into four presentations. First was "Biggest Moments of 2011" where Ms. Diane Castillo, CLFG Senior Financial Analyst, presented the economic highlights of 2011, the top performing industries/sectors and CLFG Units' 2011 performance highlights and achievements. The reactors of this segment were Engr. Josie Villaflores, Engr. Yvonne Tabion, Engr. Joey Operario and Engr. Bebot Cifra. Ms. Castillo then discussed the Global, Regional and Local Outlook as well as industry forecasts and Top 10 trends during the second segment, "Rev Up". The reactors were Engr. LA Funelas, Engr. Ermon Dy, Ms. Maricel Tayao, Engr. Clen Vale and Engr. Rosanne Ancog. On the third segment, "Full Speed Ahead," Ms. Castillo and Ms. Joanna Almoneda, CLFG Marketing Assistant, showed the CLFG products and services and their geographical location, and then they summarized the 2012 Marketing Program/ Strategies of CLFG Units. CLFG Chairman Dr. Ceferino Follosco was the reactor for the segment. The final segment was highlighted by the introduction of CLFG Capital Corp.

After the presentations, CLFG employees were asked to group by cluster and think of new ideas and business opportunities for their respective cluster. Each cluster presented their list of ideas, which were then submitted to Knowledge Center for evaluation and implementation.

CEFFI @ 10: A Decade of Uplifting Lives

Cef & Ester Follosco Foundation, Inc. (CEFFI) celebrated its 10th Anniversary on October 26, 2011 at the Training Room of CLF1 Building in Makati City. CEFFI continues to fulfill its corporate social responsibility with its programs including Lending and Cash Gift Program, Continuous Learning Program, Scholarship, Outreach and Environmental Programs.

There were four awards granted that night. First was the Kaagapay sa Karunungan Award with nominees Neri Aes (FMIC), Sanito Mata (FMIC), Jocel Fernandez (ALPHA), Joselito Operario (FMIC) and Michael Ritchie Co Seng (AAFC). These CEFFI Educational Loan borrowers were judged based on their inspiring story (80%) and overall performance of their children in school (20%). Neri C. Aes, a painter/welder of FMIC and the breadwinner of his family, won the award with a total rating of 95%. The CEFFI Entrepreneur of the Year Award was received with a total rating of 81.67% by Jelyn A. Aguilar of ALPHA whose FX Taxi business has been operating for 4 years. The two other nominees were Maritess Lico (AAFC-La Union) and Dominique Viray (AAFC-La Union). These CEFFI Livelihood Assistance borrowers were ranked using the following criteria: Business Profitability (20%), Industry Risk (15%), Investments Risk (15%), Management Quality (15%), Length of Operation (10%) and Impact (25%).

Villaflores (ALPHA) and Michael Ritchie Co Seng (AAFC) who were chosen as they are members of CEFFI Committee for more than five (5) years, have contributed useful ideas for CEFFI and have helped in the development and implementation of its programs/projects. Both received a Certificate of Commendation. After the awarding of CLFG Employees, Divine Tapit (ProBlends) sang Cant Take that Away before the program ended with a salu-salo.

The anniversary theme was A Decade of Uplifting Lives. A video presentation showed CEFFIs humble beginnings, its current status and its plans for a sustainable future. Our Chairman, Dr. Ceferino L. 2011 CLFG Christmas Party (Makati & Paraaq ue)

Christmas is the most anticipated event of the year for most Filipinos. As early as the first ber month, people already get giddy over the festivity that comes with it and over the thought of being with family at home while enjoying a scrumptious Noche Buena. To partake in the nation's celebration of Christ's Birthday, CLFG held its annual Christmas party at Silver Place Hotel in the morning of December 23, 2011. The party commenced with an interpretative prayer which was followed by opening remarks by Alpha's product Manager, Engr. Josie Villaflores. CLFG Christmas party has become a venue for every employee to showcase their talents. The theme CLFG Got Talent: Talentado kami was adopted from one of the country's talent shows to allow competition among equally talented employees from the three clusters of the group. To warm up the audience were performances by the ubiquitous, now grown-up members of Legion of Mary and by the vibrant new employees of CLFG. The first cluster to take the spotlight during the competition proper was the Manufacturing cluster who, all clad in green, sang a few Christmas songs with their wonderful joyous blend of voices. They also performed their own version of a shadow play

that was recently popularized by a group of reality show contestants. Next to perform was the defending champion, Finance Cluster, who stood out in their red outfit accessorized with gold arm band. They sang acoustic songs and danced vigorously in front of the cheering crowd. The last to perform but definitely not the least was the Trading Cluster who always have had a unique presentation. They chose a narrative number entitled Sino ang Baliw where the cluster members showed

their acting skills while singing and dancing at the same time. They were also able to show a few magic tricks that left the crowd in awe. Selected members of the Follosco family adjudged Trading as the best performer, followed by Finance then Manufacturing Cluster. Parlor games were also held in between cluster performances. A luscious lunch was served after the employees performances. It was followed by gift giving. All efforts seemed to pay off upon seeing everyone brimming with joy at the gifts they received. The event will not be complete without the raffle draw. I bet everyone had their fingers crossed, hoping and wishing that their names will be called as the adorable great grandson of the chairman read every name drawn from the raffle jar. However, some people were really born to be luckier than the rest like Ms. Gina of Tarlac branch who did not only get the grand cash prize but also one of the major home appliance prizes. Nevertheless, no employee went home empty-handed and downhearted as those who didn't get any raffle item were given cash prizes. All CLFG Employees sang a community song to officially end the party.

CLFG Davao took part in the merriment of the Christmas season by having their small gathering on December 22, 2011 at Felis Resort Complex. After a long day at work, CLFG employees, Bebot Cifra, Cris Tamayo, Joy Acebes, Cheryl Queniahan, and Randy Emuy were all giddy to start unwinding. Since there were only five of us, we invited family members and other guests to make the celebration even merrier. among CLFG officemates, family members and guests. The most notable activity in our Christmas party is the all-time favourite Pinoy hobby, videoke!

Just like in Davao, our Christmas party in Cebu was a gastronomic feast. It lasted the whole day of December 23, 2011. Guillan Fernandez and Yvonne Tabion had lunch at Celias Sutukil and Restaurant, Mactan Shrine, LapuLapu City, Cebu. We had SuTuKil, short for SUgba (ihaw) TUla (tinola) KILaw (kilaw).

Despite coming from different CLFG North Branches, we also had a great time during our Christmas Party last December 23, 2011 at Silverios Restaurant, Bonuan, Dagupan City. It was a sunny day and Laila Llego, Cris Martinez, Art Duzon, Shirley Jose and Donato Laurean arrived early for the lunch party. When Sheryl Aquino, Dom Viray and Joyce Paysa arrived, we went inside the restaurant. The clock struck 12 noon, the band played and entertained us with their songs while the food was being served. The food was great! We had our fill of crispy fried hito, crispy pata, inihaw na bangus, grilled pusit, hinalabos na hipon, liempo and sinigang na malaga. While waiting for Ms. Gina Miranda and Ms. Jenny to arrive, we listened to the band, which also plays songs requested by customers. An hour later, Ms. Gina and Ms. Jenny arrived and were introduced to us. We enjoyed the time chatting and getting to know one another. The opportunity comes only once in a year and I, for one, look forward to seeing them again in upcoming company gatherings.

Of course, a Christmas party is never complete without a mouth-watering feast! Felis Resort provided a delectable selection of food ranging from meat to pasta dishes.

After lunch, we headed back to the office and ordered pizza from Albertos Pizza. As if that was not enough for the two of us, we also had snacks from Mang Inasal delivered to our office.

Outing? It's more fun in CLFG!

Who said that summer can only be spent and enjoyed during summer? As long as the place is perfect with the bright sun the white sand beach and a huge, sparkling swimming pool, nonstop music, overflowing drinks, flavorsome meals, fun games and activities and lastly, with loud people around - ones summer will definitely become one-of-a-kind! Here in CLFG, employees experienced a perfect summer outing at Canyon Cove Beach Resort, Nasugbu, Batangas last July 14, 2012.

fun, almost all employees went out and enjoyed the heavy rain. Even the guys in Paraaque splashed into the pool and enjoyed in the rain.

To make the outing even more exciting, the CEFFI Committee, spearheaded by Ms. Charm Cadano, prepared four teambuilding activities First is "Command and Conquer," which aimed to strengthen teamwork and leadership. Second is "Polo Game" which intended to ignite strong coordination.

2012 CLFG Bowling Tournament: Striking to Perfection by Telly Mina

CLFG is not just solely after meeting target or satisfying clients. It also aims to develop its employees camaraderie and sportsmanship to build harmonious relationships between management and employees. This objective was accomplished through the Bowling Tournament last October 6 at the Superbowl Billiards and Bowling Center, Makati Cinema Square. Valuable male and female players were Mr. Ronnel Olegario and Ms. Desiree Leyco, while "Striker of the Year" was awarded to Jocel Fernandez for striking six frames in just one game.

The players were CLFG employees from Makati and Paraaque, who were grouped into 10 teams prior to the tournament. The team names, which were derived from CLFG brands, were Prince, Zelbrite, Dicalite, Niaux, Pentair, Aqua Care, Hanmi, Warrior, John Deere and Sta-rite. The program began with an invocation which was led by yours truly, then welcoming remarks from the Tournament Commissioner, Mr. Ritchie Coseng. The true heat of the tournament started when the emcees, Norgene Ramos and Karen Lagang introduced the teams one-by-one for picturetaking and presentation of their cheer. This was followed by Oath of Sportsmanship led by Limwel Ramos and Ceremonial Bowl done by last tournaments top scorers, Ms. Jelyn Aguilar and Mr. Joselito Habulin

After the 10-minute Shadow Bowling, the elimination round began. The four teams that were able to make it to semi-finals are Niaux, Warrior, Prince and Sta-rite, which were headed by team leaders Ms. Charmaine May O. Cadano, Mr. Alex Tolentino, Mr. Ronald Lopez and Ms. Bernadeth Nabor, respectively. Semi-finalists had a close fight but Sta-rite won against Niaux with 483-482 score, while Warrior succeeded against Prince with 511-492. Niaux was 3rd runner-up while Prince was 2nd runner-up.

This years 2012 Planning Session of the company was not just a simple meeting it was also a celebration of the companys 20th year anniversary. Branch Heads from La Union/Baguio, Dagupan (Pangasinan), Tarlac and Davao came to Makati on January 24 to 26 not only to present their 2012 Targets but also to celebrate this milestone. The three-day stay started off with a recap of the previous years actual performance. Among the attendees were CLF, MFB, RFC, Mr. Raymond Paloma, Ms. Diane Castillo and Actives Branch Heads Ms. Gina

Miranda (Tarlac), Mr. Cris Tamayo (Davao), Mr. Dominique Viray (La Union and Baguio) and Ms. Sheryll Aquino (Dagupan). After the recap, the 2012 Outlook and Presentation of CLFGs newest company, CLFG Capital Corp. was introduced by Ms. Castillo. Next to it was RFCs presentation of Active Finance in 2011 followed by the Branch Heads' reports. The second day was filled with fresh information as Ms. Clarence De Dios gave the Branch Heads an update regarding Personnel Policies and as yours truly presented a Marketing Seminar entitle "Back to Basics." The

seminars objective was to assist each Branch Head in developing a concrete action plan in support of their respective 2012 targets. Updates on CEFFI and on Operations Policies were then presented by Ms. Charm Cadano and Mr. Paloma respectively. The third and last day of the 2012 Planning Session ended with a tour around FMIC and ProBlends Facilities in Sucat, Paraaque. Branch Heads together with RFC had a refreshing free taste of ProBlends Dalandan Juice during their visit.

Active's 2012 Mid-Year Review

The mid-year review with the theme, Turning Vision into Action was held on July 26-28, 2012 at CLFG Bldg. Training Room. Branch Heads from La Union/Baguio, Dagupan (Pangasinan), Tarlac and Davao returned after six months to give updates on their performances. The first day started off with a seminar entitled, The 6 Thinking Hats How to Think Your Way to Success." Attendees were RFC, MFB, Actives Branch Heads, COC (RCMU Unit Head), Ms. Cherie Mae Oliveros (Active Finance-Makati Marketing Assistant) and Kathleen Labaguis (AIMCON Travel-Marketing Officer). The seminar was not just an ordinary presentation since I required the attendees to proactively participate in our discussion. I asked them first if customer service, marketing materials, grocery layout and product display. They were grouped into two Sheryll and Cris, Dominique and Gina. Presentations were advised to be discussed on the last day of the midyear review.

the topic was familiar. I then explained that the 6 Thinking Hats is a Thinking Tool used to look at decisions from a number of important perspectives. The seminar aimed to encourage participants to have a parallel thinking to explore all sides of an issue at the same time in decision-making. At the end of the presentation, the Branch Heads were given a challenge, which was to visit Shopwise and observe the shoppers,

Next day, the Branch Heads discussed updates on the actual performances of their respective branch before the BOD and RFC. On the final day, the Branch Heads discussed their consolidated observations and recommendations regarding the Shopwise Challenge before MFB and RFC. At the end of the discussion, each branch head shared their insights and lessons learned from the whole mid-year review.

Rosanne Ancog, AIMCON Agriservices OIC, and Ms. Marella Bables, CLFG Management Trainee. The attendees included Managers, Sales Engineers, Technical Assistants, Marketing Officers and Accounting Personnel of various CLFG Units. The seminar aimed to help CLFG employees understand the importance of feasibility study and to give them idea on how to make one. Basically, a feasibility study is a tool used to determine if a project should be implemented or not. In feasibility study, you systematically gather and analyze data to find out the practicability and profitability of a proposed new project or business. As a training exercise, the audience were grouped by their respective

cluster and were asked to make the Financial Feasibility Study for a hypothetical new product of CLFG. After the groups finished their feasibility studies, the speakers evaluated each work not only to help the groups further improve their feasibility study, but also to make the whole audience understand more about the financial aspect of feasibility study.

Seminar on How to Beat Stress in Simple Steps

Last October 20, 2012, the seminar dubbed "How to Beat Stress in Simple Steps" was held at the CLFG Training Room. The seminar aimed to raise awareness about stress, to help the participants recognize and manage stress within themselves, to identify the signs of stress and its impact to their health and lifestyles, and to discern a range of stress management tips through building a stress management toolbox. Representatives from CLFG companies attended the seminar. The event, hosted by Ms. Jessa Cuadra, had Ms. Joanna Almoneda as the speaker. Ms. Almoneda discussed in details the definition of stress, its causes and signs along with the implications of daily stress. The comparison between good and bad stress has also been tackled as well as the benefits of stress management. Short videos about lightening the load and Stresstabs spoofs have also been shown. John Deere Asia's Sales Director, Jamie Flood, and Regional Marketing Manager, Rocky Iwahara, visited the Philippines on March 26 to 30, 2012. Ag-Mech organized activities for the visitors to assess if the country is ready for agri-mechani zation, particularly cane harvesting. On the first day, they visited UP Los Meeting ofAg-Mech Board of Directors Baos to discuss about and John Deere Asia UPLB's thrusts on agrimechanization, and to International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) to observe paddy field operations and inspect rice harvester. Their last stop was FMIC.

The group also visited CADP's office in Makati to discuss program for sugar production and marketing, and a possible tie-up. Lastly, the group flew to Davao visited Davao Sugar Central Company, Inc. (DASUSECO).

Jones-Hamilton Co.

On the second day, they went to Balayan, Batangas to inspect sugar fields, and to Central Azucarera de Don Pedro (CADP) Sugar Mill to discuss operations and support given to sugar planters. On the third day, they went to Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) in Quezon City to discuss about block farming program and SRA's support programs for sugar planters in preparation for the free-trade agreement in 2015. They flew to Davao and met with Davao Agricultural Ventures Corporation (Davco) on the fourth day to discuss about the production of pineapple, banana and other fruits. Its representatives, Gerry Danes and Chris O'Brien visited CLFG Makati office on Jones-Hamilton's Gerry Danes and May 24, 2012 to formally Chris O'Brien&with CLF, CGF, JBV, LA Rosanne introduce their company and their product. Allied Sales has also become the official exclusive distributor in the Philippines of their company's product, Dry Acid, after the memorandum of agreement was signed during the meeting.

For a more technical opinion on cane harvesting mechanization, John Deere USA Product Manager Luis Rodriguez visited the Philippines together with Mr. Iwahara on May 7, Luis Rodriguez, CGF and Dr. Ted Mendoza 2012. Ag-Mech brought them to Balayan, Batangas to assess the sugarcane farm's suitability to cane harvester. During the visit, they had a discussion with Dr. Ted Mendoza, an SRA consultant, regarding the Philippine sugar cane industry.

Sojitz Corporation is the Japanese trading company of Shikoku Chemicals Corporation, a manufacturer of TICA and SDIC. Delegates from Sojitz had their annual visit to CLFG to evaluate the status of the market for chlorine in the country. They were Chemical Resources Dept. - ChlorAlkali Section Asst. Mngr. During the meeting, the growth of chlorine market all around the country as well as the improved labels for packaging were presented. The October 2011 - October JBV with Junko Kotake and 2012 sales history of TICA and Atsuko Miyakawa at La Tienda SDIC was graphed for comparison and the derived forecast was shown. CLFG's marketing strategies were also described and presented. Dinner at La Tienda followed the meeting.

UAP ConEx 2012

Last April 19-21, 2012, the 38th United Architects of the Philippines Convention Exhibits (UAP Conex 2012) was held at the SMX Convention Center Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. Architects, engineers, interior designers, contractors, and students attended the event. The exhibitors had a unique opportunity to capture interest, gain contacts and drive sales for a wide range of products in the construction, design and building industries. Alpha Machinery & Engineering Corp. was one of the exhibitors of the convention and through this event, the company was able to promote Pentair pool products, accessories and

chemicals to many visitors.

The building was filled with tractors, implements, fishing boats, unlimited free tastes, and mountain of freebies. The main purpose of Makina-Saka 2012 is to expose our countrymen, especially those in the Agriculture sector, to the advancements brought about by the combination of agriculture and machine design, forecasting a huge increase in productivity. With the hazards and setbacks posed by the necessity for manual labor during sugar harvesting, the need to develop a technology that will compensate manual labor and at the same time improve the efficiency and quality of the harvested sugarcane stalks is great. Thus, John Deere revolutionized heavy equipment that will answer this need in the most comprehensive way.

On the second day, we were lectured in detail on cab controls, harvester adjustments, and fluid capacities of the equipment. An orientation on the basic hydraulic and electrical symbols of the harvester was done in the afternoon including the electrical harness and connector locations as well as the topper function. Crop divider function, front roller function and finally the base cutter function was discussed during the third day. On the final day of the training, we went to the harvester machine site to discuss the cooling fan function and engine training. The activity concluded with a service advisor training and summary and course evaluation. Finally on the fourth day, the participants were asked to engage in an on-site discussion and observation of the actual Sugarcane harvester equipment.

In a technical seminar held at Sheraton Hotels & Resort and Site, Pattaya, Thailand last October 10 to 12, 2011, I was able to take part in examining and understanding the operation, features, functions, hydraulics symbol, electrical symbol and maintenance of Sugarcane Harvester 3520. This is John Deeres new technology of mechanizing sugarcane harvest to ensure efficient and quality sizing of sugarcane stalks during harvest period. The training program was divided into two major activities. On Days 1-2, the participants were immersed in a lecture presentation. On the first day of the training, the program started with the safety overview of the Mr. Espiritu Cifra during the John Deere 3520 Technical Training Sugarcane Harvester 3520 as well as the field and harvester preparation. Mr. Ceferino Follosco Jr. and Mr. Espiritu Cifra attended the field demo and operation of John Deere 3520 Sugarcane Harvester in Thailand last April 9, 2012.

They familiarized themselves with the parts and mechanism of the harvester and how it works.

On the next day, CGF and EDC visited the manufacturing plant of Sammitr Autopart Co., Ltd. They observed the manufacturing processes of Sammitr, which agricultural equipment such as disc, rotary blade, plow blade and track shoes.

They first went to Kaset Thai Sugar Mill where the said company had a presentation. After lunch, they headed to Khun Manat's field to observe the sugarcane harvester's field operation.

59th Philsutech Convention

The 59th Annual Philsutech Convention was held last August 22 to 23, 2012 at the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu. It featured about one hundred sixteen exhibitors plus a display of various brands of tractors. Ag-Mech gave out flyers of John Deere 3520 Sugarcane Harvester during the convention.

On November 9-13, 2012, the Skills Training on the Technical Evaluation of Selected Agricultural Machinery was held at PhilMech, Muoz, Nueva Ecija. It was the first time the John Deere R40 Rice Combine Harvester was displayed for public viewing in the country.
