SEPEP Philosophy
It is based around the philosophy that community sport involvement (structured teams and competitions) has the potential to breed in its participants dedication, competence and commitment as well as physical, social and cognitive skills.
Basic structure
Students are put in the drivers seat they elect their own managerial board (called the sports board), they fulfil the roles associated with a officiating a sports competition (ie umpires or referees, publicity officers, equipment officers, coaches and captains), and they also determine the rules of the game that is to be played, and the details of the competition season.
Steps Involved
1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) Explain concept to class Introduce the Sports Board role The Sports Board is elected Team selection process Roles are explained and selected Students develop and sign a Player Code of Conduct 7) Rules are formulated and agreed upon test round 8) Game format is agreed upon. 9) Round 1 commences
TEAM ROLE
Sports board member, captain, coach, trainer, publicity officer. Each has a detailed role description.
DUTY ROLE
Referee, timekeeper, equipment officer, scorer. Each has a detailed role description.
