Prompt: Plan a technology training opportunity for teacher professional development. Include the following elements:

1. Are the goals SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound)? a. Professional development goals that will improve all students learning? b. Professional development goals that will improve teacher effectiveness? c. Professional development goals that differentiates the learning? 2. What activities are planned? 3. What are the expected outcomes? 4. How will the learning be measured? 5. How will you ensure the learning returns to the classroom? 6. How will you measure the outcome on student learning? Professional Development Guide: Professional development will take place once a month for four months. The training will last from August to November. Follow up sessions will be available after the end of the calendar year. Educational technology coaches will be responsible for the teacher training. Training modules have been divided into four different modules to be completed during the training sessions. Attendees: Teachers from all over the district will attend a meeting that will be held at their school one Tuesday per month from August until November. Professional teacher training will be required for all teachers in all subjects grades 5-12. Teachers in grades k-4 have option to attend meetings, but will not be required. The reason for this is grades 5-12 all have access to iPads, laptops, and computer labs daily.

Teachers will take a pretest and a posttest on their familiarity with Edmodo. Teachers will have a month to incorporate the different training sessions into their classrooms. Teachers will bring back any positive or negative experiences they had and share them with the trainers. If teachers need assistance they can ask a technology coach to assist them during one of their lessons. All 5-12 teachers have access to iPads, laptops, and computer labs on a daily basis. Edmodo can be accessed from school or home by teachers, students, and parents. Edmodo is new to our school district, this will be the first year it is available. Expected Outcomes: With voluntary follow up teacher training meetings, availability to technology coaches and various resources it is expected that teachers in grades 5-12 will show growth in their ability to incorporate Edmodo into their daily lessons. Teachers that use Edmodo on a regular basis will have enhanced student engagement and students will a better understanding of material being taught. With immediate teacher feedback on quizzes students will know what they scored and what they need to work on. With the ability to upload web links, PowerPoints and word documents teachers will save on the amount of paper they use during the school year. How will learning be measured? Learning will be measured in a variety of ways. One way learning will be measured is after each staff development. Survey will ask teachers how comfortable they were before the training, how comfortable they are after the training, and how comfortable they are taking what they have learned and apply it in the classroom. Learning will also be measured by teacher artifacts. After each teacher training, teachers should be able to take what they have learned and apply it in the classroom. Once applied in the classroom the teacher has an artifact of how they used their training in the classroom.

How will you ensure the learning returns to the classroom?

In order to make sure that learning returns to the classroom teacher will collect and organize artifacts. Artifacts will ensure that teachers are using the training in the classroom. Technology coaches will be readily available for all teachers to seek guidance and answer questions. Teachers will have sufficient time to learn Edmodo and incorporate it into their

classrooms. Teachers will learn once they begin to incorporate Edmodo in their class students will begin accessing the learning tool from home and will have a beneficial impact on student learning and engagement.

How will you measure the outcome on student learning? Teachers and technology coaches will be able to track and monitor student logins and maintain a positive learning environment for the students. Gradebooks that are a part of the Edmodo site will help track student learning with quizzes and completed assignments. Administration and coaches will be able to see observational data while completing their walkthroughs. At the end of the year students will complete a survey about the impact that Edmodo has played in their learning. With Edmodos ability to store PowerPoints and word documents students will be able to access information to better help them succeed. Student achievement will also be measured with the end of year test and student growth and achievements.
