Dr. Muhammad Sadiq Khattak has completed his Post Doctorate Studies in Nano-Technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT), Atlanta USA in 2012. During his Post-Doc, he was working on an EU project with a total funding of PKR 15 million to support his research at the GIT, USA. During his Post Doc, he developed novel experimental techniques for predicting life-long behavior of microelectronic systems. After completing the Post-Doc studies, Dr. Khattak joined Mechanical Engineering Department as Assistant Professor and is recently appointed as Director (R & D), UET Peshawar. Dr. Khattak is highly honored to complete successfully his double doctorate studies in Nanotechnology and Energy & Mechanics of Materials from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT), Atlanta, USA and University of Lorraine (UOL), Lorraine, France respectively. During his PhD studies, his research was funded by a consortium of 10 multinationals and European funding agency (CNRS) which was worth of PKR 30 million. He got the first position in his qualifying exams at the GIT. He was also awarded the youngest scientist award after successful completion of his PhD studies. During his research, Dr. Khattak participated in various research projects including IZM (Fraunhofer), Schlumberger, CNRS, NSF and European Commission. Dr. Khattak has a rich teaching experience in different research labs and institutes both in Europe and USA. He also got some break-through results from his research during (both of his PhDs) including indentifying elemental Lanthanum in Sn-Ag-Cu alloys for the first time in solder joints. He has published his work in high impact factor Journals and International Conferences in Europe and USA. He has attended more than 15 international workshops across the globe. Dr. Khattak has developed certain links with many industrial and educational partners. He has also keen interest in getting different donors for sponsoring both undergraduate and graduate projects that includes PSF, DFID, SDA and SMEDA. He has developed MoUs with SDA with a total worth of PKR 1.2 billion that includes 150 paid internships, sponsoring undergraduate projects and series of trainings for the uplift of industrial estate Hattar. He has also arranged trainings on entrepreneurial activities for more than 100 students of UET and successfully funded their ideas in different sectors. He is also working with different student and faculty groups on commercializing the undergraduate projects. Dr. Khattak is currently supervising MS and PhD students on various topics as joint ventures with National Center of Physics (NCP), QAU Islamabad, Institute of Space Technology (IST) Islamabad, NUST and few other institutions. Dr. Khattaks research interests include developing experimental setup for high reliability/performance of MEMS, micro mechanical models for predicting behaviors of advanced engg materials (specially environmental friendly systems which are non-toxic and non-hazardous), innovative design solutions and renewable energy sources.
