AIESEC in Slovakia
AIESEC in Slovakia came into existence already a long time ago during comunist
ages. After the velvet revolution held in 1989 i.e. collapse of comunistic regime
AIESEC experienced large extension. Up to now, we have 6 local committees nationwide in Slovakia. During these years we have been working much, resulting
into numerous awesome achievements.
Project EDUCATE Slovakia is currently running in five LCs: Bratislava, Bansk Bystrica, Comenius University, Nitra and Trnava.
Nowadays we have around 300 members. It is our great pleasure that you decided to come to Slovakia and we want to to assure you that we will do everything
to make your stay in Slovakia as comfortable, unforgettable and satisfactory as
possible!

Introduction
EDUCATE Slovakia is a cultural project for elementary school and high school students. Inspired by similar projects in the neighboring countries the first round of
EDUCATE Slovakia began in January 2011 and it was a huge success. Since then
two more rounds have been organized. Altogether the project ran in 6 cities,
more than 30 school participared on in and the number of students impacted by
this project keeps growing with every new round. The aim of the project is raising cultural awareness among students, teaching them about other cultures and
making them actively communicate in English using presentations, workshops
and discussions led by international lecturers - you.
Flow of the project
You will spend 6 weeks in Slovakia working in a team of 4 people from 4 different countries. On the first week there will be a preparation seminar where you
will prepare for specific requirements of each school concerning discussion topics
and forms of presentation. The whole team of interns will spend the next weeks
together in schools, each week in a different one.

- first week participating on trainings,
preparing all the presentations, workshops, preparing presentation about
your countries and cultures for students
of different age groups, getting to know
the local reality of schools, exploring
the city
- raising cultural awareness among
students, teaching them about your
countries and cultures with the help of
presentations, discussions, workshops,
games, etc
- actively communicating with students
in English about different issues in your
countries
- organizing and participating at projects final event, presenting overall run
and results of the project to all participants

Preparation before arrival


- collect information about topics
requested by schools
- gather pictures and videos from your
life and about your country
- bring typical items or souvenirs from
your country and a country flag
- bring your own laptop
- dont forget to bring warm clothes!
After arrival
The currency we use in Slovakia is Euro
so dont forget to exchange some money before you come. You will have to buy
a SIM card with some credit which costs
around 10 euros. You may also have to
buy a monthly pass for public transport.
These are all things you buddy will help
you with. Dont forget to write down
your buddys or OCPs/VPs number in
case you need it when you arrive :)
