Lesson Plan 1

February 2015
Introduction: The following lesson plan belongs to the unit Clothes and it refers to a
lesson that would take place in the late afternoon, at 16.30h. At this point, students would
have just finished the unit My Body. They would have already learnt the new words for
body parts (they would have cut and glued the body parts in their notebooks and they
would have already written the names of some body parts in their notebooks).
Class: 3rd year

Topic: Clothes

Lesson number: 1

Time: 60 min

Aims

Learning
objectives

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:

- Integrate previously learnt contents;
- Identify the names of the clothes;
- Read some names of the clothes;
- Develop their listening skills;
- Work on critical thinking through:
Describing and explaining ones daily routine;
Understanding others different routines and hygiene habits;
Comparing different habits and showing empathy towards others traditions;

Assumptions
As this is the 1st lesson in the unit Clothes, students have already learnt the body parts and
they have previously studied the colours.
Difficulties expected
- It may be difficult to complete all the lesson steps in 60 minutes as students may get too
excited describing the pictures in step 4 and may ask further questions about other cultures
and habits.
- Besides, students may have some difficulty in explaining their daily routines in English due
to some lack of vocabulary, so the teacher may accept the use of L1.
- Finally, as the lesson will take place at the end of the day, students might be tired and less
participative. So, step 5 was included to give students an opportunity to relax and play in
small groups. However, if there is not enough time, this last step may be omitted.
