Caring, growing, learning in the heart of our community

Gates open at 8.45am and
children need to be in their
class, ready to learn by 8.55.
Dont forget we have our breakfast club and crocodile walk to
help you get to school on time.

Are you taking 10

minutes every day to
read to your child?
By working together, we can prepare
children to be successful readers and
enjoy reading for a lifetime. Thank you to
all those family members who regularly
read with their child at home. It really
makes all the difference to your childs
confidence and progress.
Please support your child's love for
reading by reading daily for ten minutes
with your child. If you have any questions
please speak to your child's Class
Teacher.

Have you
logged on?

We will attend our Harvest Festival service on

Wednesday 5th October at 10.00am.
We will be walking to and from St Peters Church. We
will be leaving school at 9.45 and if you would like to
join us, please let your childs teacher know. We have
decided to support the charity SHOC (Slough Homeless
Our Concern).
Shoc is a day centre that exists
to provide care for the homeless
in Slough and those at risk of
becoming so. It is the only centre within a 20-mile radius that
offers the homeless both crisis
care and long term transformational help towards independence .
We are asking children to donate items from the list
below: Thank you! Milk (UHT or powdered), Sugar
(500g), Fruit juice (long-life),soup, pasta sauces, sponge
pudding (tinned), tomatoes (tinned), cereals , rice pudding (tinned), tea bags / instant coffee, instant mash
potato, rice / pasta, tinned meat ,tinned fish, tinned
fruit, jam , biscuits. We also welcome donations of
basic toiletries and basic baby essentials.

In English, children in Year 1 and 2 have been planning and

writing their own familiar settings stories. In Maths they have
been investigating addition and subtraction. Humanities has
been focused on our lovely village Iver, with children going on
a local area walk. Thank you to all our local shops who have
been supportive in allowing our children to have a nose around
their business, asking lots of questions.

FISA AGM FISA will be holding

their AGM on Monday 10th October
at the Iver Village Junior School.
The evening will start at 7.15pm and
all parents are welcome to attend.
PARENT GOVERNOR WANTED
If you are a parent of a pupil at the school
would you like to know more about the role?
School governors are people who want to
make a positive contribution to childrens education.
The governing body has a key role in the development and
oversight of the school. It is governors who hold the main r
responsibility for finance in schools, and who work with the
Head teacher to make the tough decisions about balancing
resources.
The governing body does not get involved with the day to day
running of the school which is the responsibility of the
Headteacher.
We have six meetings a year and some governors also attend
committee meetings for example, the curriculum or finance of
the school. Training is available, both introductory and for
more specialised topics.
We have one vacancies .
For more information please speak to our current parent
governors Mrs Honeyman and Mrs Lester, speak to the
School Office or contact me for a chat about the role. We look
forward to hearing from you.
