Dear Parents,
MESSAGE OF THE WEEK

Many thanks to the parents who came to take part in the Growth Mindset training session on Monday afternoon
this week. It was well attended and I hope it gave you a good idea of what the children are learning about in school
presently. In brief, it encourages our children to change the way they think about themselves and inspires them to
believe in themselves and expect more of themselves. I do hope that you can speak to them about what they have
learned as we hope that it will make a difference to how they approach their learning each and every day.
YEAR 5 & 6 ATHLETICS FINALS TUESDAY 17

Owing to their success last term in achieving a place in the district finals, the Athletics Team will be taken to Lostock
Hall Academy on Tuesday morning at arrive by 9.15am for their area finals. If any parents are able to support and
offer their child a lift, please contact Mr Shields. We would like our children to come to school in their PE kit or

very best of luck to our team!
YEAR 3 & 4 ATHLETICS DISTRICT COMPETITION - WINNERS
I would like to offer my huge congratulations to our Year 3 & 4 Athletics team for such an impressive performance at
the Athletics meet on Tuesday at Wellfield Secondary in Leyland. This was a huge event for local primary schools and
st
our team quite literally stormed their competition with a very large point difference between their 1 place and the
runners-up. Their attitude and focus was commendable, well done to all who took part!

SPORTSMANS DINNER SUPPORTING THE SWIMMING POOL 31

MARCH

It is my intention to hold a special event at the close of this term to raise awareness and funding for our pool securing
its use by our children in the future. We are proposing to have an evening at the Best Western Hotel in Leyland with
a 3 course dinner, Olympic medallist guest/s speaker, a comedian, a DJ and an auction. I would like to inform you of
this event at this early stage to hopefully raise parental interest but more details are following soon. I would however
like to appeal for an auction items as we are intending to spend time during the evening fundraising by bidding for
items or experiences. I am aware that we have a large number of parents who may be able to offer their support or
ask their own employers for possible auction gifts (such as restaurant meals, beauty and fashion experiences, visits
etc) that would be of great use to our pool. Please contact the office or Mr Shields if you can help us support this
event. Many thanks indeed for taking your time to consider this request.
REPORTING YOUR CHILDS EFFORT AND ATTAINMENT
We hope you find this information useful and informative making you aware of your childs progress against their year
group expectations. If you struggle accessing this report please do not hesitate to contact the school.
