Volunteering: Working For The Community
Volunteering: Working For The Community
VOLUNTEERING
Gomes |
Introduction:
As we have been studying the topic Working for the Community in our English Class,
the teacher assigned us to do a project work on volunteering, more specifically on
local charity or organisation. I chose to write about Global Volunteers
Volunteering and Working for the Community are two related topics, doing
volunteering we are working for community, directly or indirectly.
All institutions deserve to be helped, some more than others, be a volunteer does not
cost anything, just gave us experience and even more willing to help others.
1
Volunteering
Volunteering means spending some of your free time helping others. You may
volunteer to help other people, such as the families who lost their homes after a
natural disaster. But you can also volunteer to protect animals, the environment, or
any other cause that you care about.
Volunteering helps others, but it can also help ourselves. Lots of people (and kids) find
that they really enjoy volunteering. Volunteer experiences often put ourselves in a
different environment and expose ourselves to people and situations that we wouldn't
have come across in your regular life. For instance, we might learn that just on the
edge of our country are some kids who really need winter clothes.
School is another good place to start if we're looking for volunteer ideas. Ask a
teacher, school counselor, or librarian for ideas, in my case, Im learning at school
what volunteering is and ways of doing it.
Some places want volunteers who are 12 or even older, depending on the job. Often
kids start volunteering by working alongside their parents. For instance, we might be
too young to prepare food at a soup kitchen, but if our parents volunteer there you
might be able to go along and pitch in.

Global Volunteers
The organisation that I choose calls Global Volunteers, for me this organisation is
one of the bests because the service of volunteering is seriously and it is scattered all
over the world, in countries like Portugal, ndia, Italy, United States, etc.
PROJECTS
Their community partners vary from country to country, but in every community, their
partners embody the local needs and will to collaborate on long-term development
projects. Simply, they work with local leaders who have the vision, community support
and hands-on capability to meet childrens needs.

IMPACTS
While some focus mainly on our personal experiential goals, their channel our skills to
the greatest benefit of local people. The most important question we can ask about
our own volunteer service is: What impact do I hope to make?
1. Contribute to Development.
The power of volunteers changes everything. The needs in our host communities
are vast, and so are the opportunities to make a genuine difference.

Conclusion:
With this work, I learnt what volunteering is and how can be do. But any day of the
week we can do volunteering, but how? At home, we can pitch in by offering to help
our mom or dad bring in the groceries, ranking leaves for an elderly neighbor, or by
making our bed before someone ask you, we could even make our brothers or
sisters bed while youre at it, as surprise treat for them. Maybe next time theyll
volunteer to make your! This message is to all of us, please CATCH THE
VOLUNTEER SPIRIT!
