    In addition to the above, bonus marks for the following:


    Working setup of a new experiment (15 marks)
    Modification of existing setup to reduce error/make the experiment safer/run the experiment with less hazardous
    chemicals/any other benefit. Note that the marks will be awarded if the benefit is shown by making modifications
    instead of only giving suggestions (10 marks)

    Lab report
    Students for a particular day will be divided into 10 sub-groups. Single report needs to be submitted by each
    sub-group.

    Lab report must be submitted in the next turn after the experiment is performed. Late submissions will
    invite a penalty of 50%. It is expected that each team member has contributed to the report writing and
    each team member must know what the report contains.

    The report must contain the objective and the theoretical background written in own language, sample
    calculation (absolutely must), quality graphs, detailed discussion and analysis of findings, error analysis and
    scope for further improvement.

    A common cover page (as per template shown on the last page) is to be used while submitting report for
    each experiment.

    If some experiment is not completed or only partially done, you have to submit the report for whatever was
    accomplished. You may chose to repeat the experiment on buffer days.
    The reading sheet should be signed by the TA/faculty and should be attached with the report. Any report
    without the signed reading sheet will not be evaluated.

    Other instructions
    Wearing of lab coats, shoes and safety goggles is a MUST. Anybody without labcoats and shoes will not be
    allowed in the laboratory. You need to wear the labcoat throughout the conduct of experiment. You need to
    bring your own labcoat. The safety goggles will be provided in the lab.

    The readings should be written with a pen. At least one reading of the experiment should be taken in front of
    the TA.

    If you miss any experiment, you can perform the experiment during the make-up session with the prior
    approval of the course instructor

    Not coming for the lab automatically gets you a zero score for that turn. This also includes absence from the
    laboratory without prior permission of the laboratory instructor/TA for some part or entire laboratory.

    Reaction kinetics from an adiabatic batch reactor (CRE5)
    Kinetics of a gas-solid non-catalytic reaction (CRE6)
    Mass transfer aspects of a gas-solid non-catalytic reaction (CRE7)
    RTD studies in a plug flow tube reactor (CRE8)
    RTD studies in a cascade of CSTRs (CRE9)
    Use of a bomb calorimeter for measurement of calorific value (CRE10)
    Performing reactions in a packed bed / monolith reactor and analysis using gas chromatography
