Description: HEMPEL’S NON-SKID 457GB is a three component polyamide adduct cured epoxy high
build coating. It forms a hard, tough, abrasion resistant non-skid coating resistant to
abrasion and impact and to fresh and seawater, diesel oil, splashes from petrol, jet fuel,
lubricating oil and related products. It contains a non- sparking aggregate and cures at
temperatures down to -10°C.
Recommended use: As a heavy duty non-skid coating on steel and concrete in severely corrosive
environments and/or subject to mechanical wear. Suited for application onto weather
decks, flight decks and heli-decks on seagoing vessels and offshore installations.
Service Temperatures: Maximum 140°C
PHYSICAL CONSTANTS
The physical constants stated are nominal data according to the HEMPEL Group's approved formulas. They
are subject to normal manufacturing tolerances and where stated, being standard deviation according to ISO
3534-1.

Safety: Handle with care. Before and during use, observe all safety labels on packaging and
paint containers, consult HEMPEL Material Safety Data Sheets and follow all local or
national safety regulations. Avoid inhalation, avoid contact with skin and eyes, and do
not swallow. Take precautions against possible risks of fire or explosions as well as
protection of the environment. Apply only in well ventilated areas
SURFACE Clean dry primer or intermediate – for example HEMPADUR* 15570, HEMPADUR* 15590,
PREPARATION: HEMPADUR*45143 or HEMPADUR*MASTIC 45880 applied in accordance with the relevant product
data sheet and application instructions. The previous coat should be within its maximum
recoat interval for epoxies and be in a contrasting colour
APPLICATION Use only where application and curing can proceed at temperatures above -10°C / 15°
CONDITIONS: The temperature of the surface must also be above this limit. Relative humidity 90% maximum. Apply
on
a dry and clean surface with a temperature above the dew point to avoid condensation. In confined
spaces provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. The temperature of the paint itself
should be 5°C / 41°F or above to ensure satisfactory application properties.
SUBSEQUENT COAT None or HEMPEL’S NON-SKID 457GB for flight and helidecks, HEMPADUR*, HEMUDUR* or
HEMPATHANE* for marking.
REMARKS: Mix Parts A and B thoroughly before adding Part C using a high shear mixer. The mixed material
contains a heavy aggregate and as a consequence frequent stirring during is necessary to ensure
even distribution during application1.
Excessive thinning may cause lower film build, unsatisfactory texture and slower drying / curing.
1. If applying using a heavy duty pressure pot ensure that the equipment is fitted with a mixer capable
of keeping the aggregate in suspension. When spraying use the minimum pressures for the feed pot
and the gun for which the desired results can be obtained. High working pressures are not
recommended.
Induction Time: If the paint temperature, as an exception, is below approx. 10°C/50°F, allow the mixture to pre-react
30 minutes before use.
OVERCOATING: Before overcoating after exposure in a contaminated environment clean surface thoroughly by high
pressure fresh water hosing and allow to dry. The following minimum and maximum recoating times
apply for well ventilated areas:
