UNIT 3 (Past simple tense)

Lesson By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:


Objective(s) 1) complete all the exercises (with at least 80% accuracy in every exercise).
2) Able to differentiate present simple, present continuous and past tense with 80%
accuracy.
Assumed
Ss have learnt basic past simple tense.

a) Te writes 2 sentences on the board.


1) Kaya works as a teacher. (Present Simple)
2) Hafiz is eating his lunch at the restaurant. (Present
Continuous)

3) Sin Yin ate all the pizza last night. (Past Tense)
Warmer / Lead-In Te-ss
b) Te asks students the differences between all the sentences.
- Tenses (Present Simple, Present Continuous, and Past
Tense)
- The forms / formulae

Books closed.
Te explains thoroughly on
1) Past Tense

Te gives examples and elicit examples from ss. 12 min


Presentation
Te-ss
Te writes notes on the board and the students copy down in their
books.
Te checks students’ notes and ensures that they copy down
accurately.

Te starts with the practice provided in the textbook.


Practice Te does the practice one by one. 13 min
Te models the first question. Te-ss-ss
Te asks ss to complete the rest of the exercises individually. While ss
are working, te monitors them closely to see how they are doing.
FB/EC: Te calls a few ss to read the answers. Te corrects their
pronunciations and answers.
Te does the same for the other practices.

Te asks a few ss to construct sentences using past tense


Ex) I cleaned my house last week. 3 min

Application Te corrects their tense and its form if there is any error

Te asks a few ss what they have learnt and elicit a few examples 2 min
