    A. Topic: Text and Context Connections (Critical Reading)
    B. Reference: Curriculum Guide page 2, Reading & Writing skills by Luzviminda D. Sandagan
    C. Materials: TV, Powerpoint presentation, laptop

    III. Procedures
    A. Motivation
    The teacher asks the students what is the difference between
     simple reading and critical reading
     explicit and implicit

    B. Lesson proper

    C. Activity
    The teacher will give articles or editorial from newspaper. Identify the type of claims
    present and support with reason or explanations.

    D. Analysis
     How did you identify the different claims?
     What are your strategies to determined the different types of
    claims?

    E. Abstraction
    The teacher will collate and discuss the answers of the learners.

    F. Application
     What are examples of different kinds of claims that you can apply every
    day?
    IV. Evaluation

    Analyze each statement and identify which statement shows claim of fact, opinion and
    value.

    1. Living in the countryside is better than living in the city.


    2. Soda contains nothing to improve one’s wellness.
    3. Research activity needs to be part of the curriculum
    4. One’s religious inclination determines his/her positive interdependence.
    5. A family that prays together, stays together.
