Motivation:

I will show you a facebook status and what you are

going to do is to post your comments below the
picture using the sticky notes.

-You are a frog.

-Are you the endorser of insecticides?

. -Can you say paspas! Walang hasol!

-Are you from tondo?

ACTIVITY: Wow. Those are Nobita and Damulag from the

film Doraemon.
Before we move ahead to our new lesson, I would
like to tell you a story. But before that let us take a
closer look with the characters that will surely
make you remember good things about your
childhood.

(this should be localized and shown in a 3D Book I am also a big fan of this series. Reminds me of
to attracts the attention of the students) my childhood.

The story revolves around a robotic cat named

Doraemon, who travels back in time from the 21st
century to aid a boy named Nobita Nobi.
He is a young boy who suffers from poor grades
and negative emotions like sadness and jealousy.
But there is a robotic cat who can stores gadgets
inside his 4 dimensional pocket.
Nobita’s closest friend is Shizuka Minamoto but
there are also Damulag(Takeshi Goda) and suneyo
Honekawa who used to be his rivals.
ANALYSIS

Actually, the story revolves from this scene. Damulag always makes fun of Nobita,
So from this picture, what can you say about punches him, kicks him and bullies him
the characters? Specially to Damulag? physically. The story revolves in a concept of
BULLYING!
ABSTRACTION

GOOD JOB! It portrays the concept of

bullying but my dear students, bullying has
no good but instead it destroys us.

What are your ideas about bullying? -Saying bad words to someone.
-kicking and punching
Very good but that falls in only one category.
Because bullying includes more than
physical assaults. It can also be VERBAL
ATTACKS, SOCIAL ISOLATIONS, and
CYBERBULLYING

Let us take a closer look in each of these. Cursing and saying things against someone.
What are your ideas about verbal attacks?

You are actually on the right track. Yes,

bullies call you names or say annoying things
about you. They make you feel worthless and
unwanted.
(the teacher will share localized and
contextualized personal experience)
How about you? Did you experience the
(the students will share experiences)
same thing?

I am always here. I am always ready to listen

to you.

Bullies could go online and it is called

cyberbullying. Just like what you did in the
photo earlier, if you would do that in real life
that’s cyberbullying!

Why do people bully others? Because they themselves have been bullied.
“just to make them feel what I’ve felt, I bully
others”
Another factor is they have poor role
models.
Yes that’s correct. Young bullies treat other
people the way they see their parents or older
siblings.
They act as if they are superior and yet
they’re just insecure.
Yes, exactly. And the prone for bullying are
those loners, youths who perceived
themselves as different, and youths who have
lack of self confidence.
Bu how are we going to fight them? Don’t react.
Very good. If you wont react, they will lose
interest.
Don’t retaliate.
Yes exactly. Do not fight back because it will
just make troubles.
There are also lots of ways to fight big
bullies. Do not take that seriously, walk away
and work on your self confidence.
(the teacher will share examples)

But if time comes that you cant handle it all.

TELL SOMEONE. Because if you don’t
speak up, it might leads you to suicides and I
don’t want that to happen. Life is a precious
gift from God, it is such a gem and there is
preciousness in all rarity.

APPLICATION:
I know that you are already enlightened on how to fight big bullies, so now, you have to
compose a song on how can you fight BULLYING using a famous rhythm of your favorite
song. You have to present that tomorrow and the most appealing composition will win a
prize.
GENERALIZATION
My dear students, bullying is just a piece of cake. Don’t take it seriously. There are lots of
things to engage yourself for. But if time comes that you cant carry it on your own, message
me on facebook anytime. I am always ready to listen for you.
Let us remember that “SPEAKING UP CAN BE THE FIRST THING TO END UP THE
NIGHTMARE”.

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

-Good Morning, Class. -Good Morning, Sir.

Pick up all the candy wrappers as well as
the piece of papers in front of you and
below your chairs.
Seat properly. Lend me your ears and put
your eyes on me.
(Build rapport, remind classroom rules
and recall past lessons)

-Yesterday, we had discussed the three

evils in Burmese Literature and I am
pretty sure that you are already
enlightened on how it affects the country.

Now , we will going to take a closer look

in a poem that tackles about how Burma
was challenged by these three evils.

-But before that, let us unlock some

difficulties. I will post some words in the
board and each group will match these in
column B.

The words are:

GLOOMINESS -somewhat dark/ not bright
DESPAIR -no longer hope
BATTERED -damaged or worn down grasses
FORAGING -wide space
VAST
ACTIVITY: -that is noted sir!
Since we already unlocked some
unfamiliar words . we are now going to
take a closer look in a poem lifted in
Burmese literature. Before that we are
going to listen in a song “Heal the world”
by Michael Jackson. Close your eyes and
try to visualize what is happening in the
song.

ANALYSIS:

I am pretty sure that you are already The song tells about the problems that
enlightened. May I ask one student to the world had gone through. The world
share his/her thoughts after listening to the in which essence has been distorted due
song? to social injustices , selfish political
concerns and other issues that bring
forth too much destruction to humanity
in general.
Wow. That is very well said.
So now let us read the poem VISION and
let us visualize it too.

ABSTRACTION:

(The teacher and the students will going

to discuss the poem in detailed)
-it shows how beautiful the country
A country of a great beauty before and it also emphasizes the
People so gentle and kind hospitable people just like the Filipinos.

There is also ugliness and cruelty It shows the other side of a coin . it
Fleeing and hiding shows how they suffered and comes to
And foranging for food to survive the point that they have to eat grasses.

Our people are in pain

Suffering like no hell on earth
Darkness and despair The country suffered because they were
Surround them dominated by three evils

And freedom is not out of reach

They are the prisoner of their own
Swallowed up by gloominess and prison and the victims of their own
bitterness crime.
How can they carry on?
Each of us has a role to play
To help our country men
Not by hatred and blame They went on the wrong path and
Not by giving false hope become servant of the three evils.
Or ideas or concepts
But to see the big vision

A VISION THAT’S NOT SO SMALL We can help each other through small or
OR LIMITED big means.
A VISION THAT IS VAST AND
SPACIOUS

So that BURMA’s people may rise up

Like a beautiful lotus.

APPLICATION:
Since you already have conceptualized the message of the poem, each group must
present a poster or visual representation of the poem to be posted in the board.

GENERALIZATION:
According to Catriona Grey, “I worked a lot in the slums of Tondo, Manila and the
life there is sad and it’s poor, but I have to see the beauty in it. I have to see the
beauty in the faces of the children where negativity cannot grow and foster.”

See? Despite of the challenges that 104 million Filipinos had gone throughout the
years, she still sees the beauty in it. She still sees the beauty in the ugliest thing in the
world which is the poverty.

The author of the poem talks about the beauty of Burma and its people. However ,
the author also talks about the negativity and the three evils that swallowed their
mind and spirit.
We as human being could contribute to make this country a better place to live in. as
wisely put the words of the song, HEAL THE WORLD ANDMAKE A BETTER
PLACE.
Be mindful of the quotation given by JFK, “Instead of asking what the country can
do for you, ask what you can do for your country”
