II. RATIONALE
Today’s ugly heap of used paper, cardboard, writing pads, paper wrappers and
other litters can be tomorrow’s source of fund for our school projects and activities.
Instead of throwing this litter which adds to the unmanageable solid waste piled up daily
in the dump sites, they can make significant contribution to fund raising venture for school.
Learning by doing is indeed a good start toward a greater solution for these
problems. Allowing waste generators to participate in the planning and implementation of
SWM may create a great impact for the success of the plan.
The Science Club and YES-O Club Officers together with some of our very
supportive parents will be given orientation on how this SWM System will be done in
school. Each is expected to be motivated and encouraged to be an active member of an
Income Generating Project which will be conducted in connection with this so that all
waste paper materials could be of help in funding our Science and Herbal Garden.
Through this, trash of papers being carelessly thrown everywhere in the classroom and
in the school yard will be eliminated and the school will surely be free from all those paper
of different kinds piled up in some areas of the school.
The Project targets to build positive attitudes, knowledge and skills in segregation,
continuously educates pupils to build their attitude, develops a culture that gives
importance to cleanliness of the surroundings and a culture that sees segregation as a
normal routine,
It also aims to apply knowledge and skills in simple business and generate funds
for growing of plants, beautification and maintenance of the school Science and Herbal
Garden.

VIII. CONCLUSION
The current school waste management programs tend to always fail because it
only exists for a few months and then die its natural death. With this income generating
project which seeks to earn financial capabilities, teachers, parents and pupils will
definitely work hand in hand for its sustainability. The proponent is looking forward to a
more organized, mess-free and healthier school environment today and in the future.
