ASRTU - Precured Tread Rubber
ASRTU - Precured Tread Rubber
ASRTU - Precured Tread Rubber
1.0 SCOPE :
1.1 This standard prescribes requirements & methods of testing for Precured Tread
Rubber.
1.2 This is a purchase specification and does not include manufacturing details. The
parts/material supplied against this specification shall be compatible with the original
equipment.
1.4 The material offered against this specification shall conform to this specification in
full. The tests shall be carried out on the part directly or on the specimen prepared
from the components'. If any of the samples fail in any one or more tests specified,
the sample shall be considered as not having met the requirements of this
specification.
1.5 It is the manufacturer's prime responsibility to satisfy the inspection authority that
the commodity conforms to this standard. This may be accomplished by performing
the tests specified in this standard.
1.6 Sample selection shall be the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Officer.
Required quality for complete testing as per this specification shall be supplied.
1.7 This specification has been formulated as per the decision of 189th meeting of
Standing Committee (S&C) held in October, 1998. In preparation of this standard,
considerable assistance has been derived from MSRTC Specification No.
MS/300/151/1/Oct. 1996.
2.1 This specification covers the requirements of Precured Tread Rubber suitable for
cold retreading process as per recommendations of the manufacturer w.r.t. Time
and Temperature to be maintained during retreading process.
2.2 The following Indian Standards are necessary adjuncts to this standard..

g) Expected life : Equal to new tyres obtained in the area (Excluding performance of
tyres scrapped). However the manufacturer shall indicate the
performance guarantee either in kms. or percentage life to that of
new tyres.
Note : In case STU's intend to use precured tread rubber of different dimensions
or tread pattern, the above stated details shall be amended accordingly in
their tender. The supplier shall obtain the approval of the user of his
material before the supplies are made.
4.0 REQUIREMENTS :
4.1 The material shall be a homogeneous compound free from foreign matter moulding
defects and porosity. No portion of the precured tread rubber shall have distortion or
blooming. The under surface of the tread shall be buffed to RMA 3 Standard,
uniformly.
