Combined Auditions and Theater Conferences
Where: Memphis TN
When: Feb 7, 2020

What: You get 90 seconds not including your slate. You must include some portion of a monologue and
you may do with the rest as you wish. Specifics for callbacks given at that time.
These auditions are done in February for current professionals, those who have already graduated or for
those current seniors looking for work after graduation. So, to audition for UPTA’s “pre-professional”
auditions, you must be a graduating in the spring after your audition. One of their criteria is that you “must
be available for year-round work.” Between 80 and 100 theaters, theme parks and cruise ships participate
yearly in UPTA and all are required to offer either paid year-round employment, paid job-in employment,
or paid internships.

Open to professionals and students alike, NETCs provide a service whereby producers and directors of
New England and other theatres from throughout the country meet in a group to audition and interview
candidates for positions in summer and year-round professional theatres as performers. These theatres
offer both job-in and full-season employment, as well as apprentice and intern positions and Equity
Membership Candidacy Programs. An average of 35 companies are represented at these auditions
annually, including summer and year-round theatres (Equity and non-Equity), college-based summer
theatres, repertory companies, Shakespearean and Renaissance Festivals, outdoor dramas and faires,
music theatres, touring companies, children's theatres, and dinner theatres, whose seasons include the
classics, dramas, musicals, comedies, and revues. Casting companies and professional theatre training
companies and conservatories are also represented.
This is a great conference if you’re willing to jump through the extra hoops for your 90 seconds. Their last
conference had 37 casting representatives from 23 companies representing 169 theatres looking to fill
more than 2,000 roles with over 250 Equity possibilities. Theatres represented were repertory and stock
companies, single show venues, cruise lines, dinner theatres, entertainment agencies, etc. Based on
information provided by the hiring companies, theatres offered an average weekly salary of $550, with
some as high as $2000/week.

Strawhats www.strawhat-auditions.com
Billed as New York City’s premiere combined audition service. Strawhats are the simplest combined
auditions to attend as they only require that you be over 18 to audition. One Audition, multiple job
opportunities – All in one day. StrawHat Auditions are open to non-Equity performers age 18 and older:
singers, dancers, and actors. Opportunities are available in summer theatres, production and
entertainment companies, cruise ships, theme parks, and special events.
StrawHat Auditions has been New York City’s premiere combined audition service since 1979. Having
started as a single day, open call event on Theatre Row, we have grown to a 3-day event presenting over
700 actors, singers, and dancers, many making their first foray into professional theatre.
MWTA is open to anyone 18 and up, union and non-union actors. Actors are considered on a first come
first served basis. MWTA is not as large as the others mentioned above, but serves the midwest and is
well organized for those looking to work in the area.
