“PREJUDICE AND BIAS”
LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 10
I. OBJECTIVES
PROGRAM STANDARD The learner demonstrates communicative competence through his/ her
understanding of literature and other texts types for a deeper appreciation of
Philippine Culture and those of other countries.
GRADE LEVEL STANDARD The learner demonstrates communicative competence through his/ her
understanding of literature and other text types for a deeper appreciation of
World Literature, including Philippine Literature.
CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other
text types serve as sources of wisdom in expressing and resolving conflicts
among individuals, groups and nature; also how to use evaluative reading,
listening and viewing strategies, special speeches for occasion, pronouns and
structures of modification.
SPECIFIC LEARNING At the end of the given period, the students are expected to:
OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES
1. distinguish bias and prejudice in material being viewed.;
2. make a realization about the effects of bias and prejudice in
real life situations.
3. find out the message being portrayed in the illustration it's
either bias or prejudice..
II. CONTENT
SUBJECT MATTER Grammar Awareness and Viewing Comprehension: PREJUDICE AND
BIAS
TIME ALLOTMENT 1 Hour
MATERIALS Laptop, LCD Projector, Cartolina, Markers, Pictures, etc.

ST: *Can you recall an experience where you are wrongly judge by
other people around you? How did it affect you? (HOTS)
(INTERACTIVE APPROACH)
In this activity the class will be divided into 2 groups. Both team
leaders will pick a piece of paper from the fish bowl. Each team will
make a scenario based on the category they picked. The learners will
be given 8 minutes to prepare. (ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACH)
After the activity, the ST will continue the lesson by discussing the
topic.
The ST will present a video clip featuring a Filipina actress who claims
that it’s not right to put a label on anyone. The learners will watch the
video clip and will be tasked to find out the label attached to the
actress. The learners will need to read the guide questions first
because they will answer the questions orally after the video clip
presentation. (COOPERATIVE LEARNING APPROACH)
Guide Questions:
1. What is the “label” attached to the woman in the video?
2. Do you agree with what the woman said on the video? Why?
(HOTS)
3. When you put “label” on someone, are you also biased? Why?
(HOTS)
4. Do you know women in the same situation as the actress? What
comments do you hear from other people about them?
Expected response:
1. Malandi
2. Yes, it happened in real life situation
3. Yes, see others in a negative way or side
4. (Varied answers)
F. APPLICATION
Test 1
Directions: Identify if the statement is bias or prejudice. Write on 1/8
sheet of paper.
1. Bullying and discriminating someone with disability.
2. Posting negative comments in social media about economic status
of a family.
3. Not serving someone in a restaurant or retail store because of their
skin complexion or race.
4. He/she won the contest because one of the judges is his/her father.
