which is also an international aviation hub. Oil exports are the reason for almost 85%
of UAE’s economy. Dubai is bolder in diversifying its economy when another Emirate of
UAE depends on oil and gas revenue. It produces 2.9 billion barrels per day and contains
97.8 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. Approximately 4 billion of oil is present in
Dubai reserves which hold second highest oil reserves in UAE. Dubai oil production is
responsible for half of the GDP of Emirates.

An Intro to Dubai Dubai is located on the Eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, in the south west
corner of the Arabian Gulf. It is extremely well known for its warm hospitality and
rich cultural heritage, and the Emirate people are welcoming and generous in their
approach to visitors. With year-round sunshine, intriguing deserts, beautiful beaches,
luxurious hotels and shopping malls, fascinating heritage attractions and a thriving
business community, Dubai receives millions of leisure and business visitors each year

Having expanded along both banks of the Creek, Dubai’s central business district
is divided into two parts - Deira on the northern side and Bur Dubai to the south -

Dubai Climate:

Guide for International Delegates

Dubai has a tropical desert climate. because of its location within the Northern desert belt.
Summers are extremely hot and humid. Most days are sunny throughout the year. Winters are
warm and short with an average high of 23 °C (73 °F) and overnight lows of 14 °C (57 °F). The
weather in Dubai can bring short and irregular rainfall as is typical for the Middle East. Most
of the rainfall occurs in the December to March period. The weather between December and
March remains warm and is considered to be the most comfortable climatic conditions of the
year.
Dubai: City of Gold
Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates known for luxury shopping, ultramodern
architecture and a lively nightlife scene. Dubai is sometimes called the “City of Gold” because
of its stunning growth from a sleepy Gulf port to a world-famous business crossroads in the
space of a single generation.
Currency: Dirham (AED)
Transport within Dubai
Bus:
The bus network in Dubai is run by the Roads and Transport Authority. These buses connect
all the major landmarks and tourist spots of the city, and are very comfortable. With the fare
starting at Dh 2, these buses run every 15-20 minutes, except on Fridays, when the frequency
is a bit low. You can also take the economical Big Bus sightseeing tour which takes you to all the
major attractions and offers live commentary and free admission to the Dubai Museum and a
dhow cruise.
Metro:
This is one of the most commonly used and efficient modes of public transport in Dubai.
It holds the record of being the world’s longest fully automated metro rail network, with two
lines (Red and Green) operational.
Taxi:
Taxis are a convenient way of getting around Dubai. Easily available throughout the city, you
will always find a long line waiting outside shopping malls and other attractions. Starting with
a minimum of Dh 3, the fare increases at a rate of Dh 1.60 per kilometer.
Water Bus:
This is an economical and preferred way to travel from Bur Dubai to Deira and vice versa.
Fares for the water buses range from Dh 1 – Dh 4, depending on the route you take.
Driving:
Vehicles are driven on the right side of the road and you need to have a credit card and a
domestic and international driver’s license if you wish to hire a car in Dubai. However, this is not
recommended due to the several traffic congestions which are expected throughout the day.

Policy:
Registration and accommodation changes will not be accepted unless made in writing.
Changes made within 14 days of the event may incur costs due to specific hotel and
venue policies
Cancellation Policy:
Registration cancellations will not be accepted unless made in writing.
Cancellations request made before 15 September 2019 will be refunded less 25% of
the Conference Registration fee, to cover administration costs.
No registration refunds will be processed after this date, however, substitute delegates
are welcome.
