Jenevieve understands that students bring differing values, knowledge and skills to their learning environment. She was
accepting and inclusive of all students. Jenevieve frequently set up activities to assist a student who was working at
foundation/year 1 level.
Jenevieve learnt all the student names by the end of day 2.
She rewarded appropriate behaviours to foster a safe, confident learning environment. Positive comments, helpful
advice and stimulating lessons help to engage the students. At times Jen was able to minimise disruptive behaviour
before it occurred through using a variety of behaviour management techniques.
At all times she demonstrated a caring and interested approach to the students. She fostered a positive relationship
through helpful advice and a concern for their health and well-being.

Jenevieve is familiar with ACARA and delivers learning activities linked with the Australian Curriculum. She planned,
organised and implemented a Science unit of work around the topic Matter (Solids, Liquids and Gasses). All concepts
taught linked with ACARA.
Jen became more familiar with the program Spelling Mastery and was become more capable towards the end of the
placement to deliver successful spelling lessons using this program.
Jenevieve understood the importance of assessment and reporting. She provided students with feedback on their
Peruasive texts.
To improve, I would like to see Jenevieve source more of her own assessment activities and take anecdotal notes and
observations to assist with evaluating the lesson outcomes and student progress.
Smart board and other technologies were used effectively to enhance lesson delivery.

Comments
I think she could definitely transfer the skills she learnt into the teaching profession.
She showed a passion for teaching and built very good rapport with the students.
She considered the needs of the students many differing levels of ability.
Her willingness to collect resources and materials for different projects was appreciated - particularly in her Science unit
for experiments.
For thought:
* During discussion: acknowledge and move on. Most students at this age just like to be noted.
* Behaviour management strategies - Be sure to follow through with warnings and punishments. Sometimes being too
nice to kids and not giving out appropriate consequences can lead to students believing you are 'a push over'.
* Be sure students understand what is expected - Task steps and procedures need to be explicitly taught, modelled and
reinforced
* When delivering messages to whole class consider the following methods to keep students engaged:
-Volume
-Pitch
-Tone
-Forms of address
