Review Text
Inception is a 2010 science fiction action film written, produced, and directed by
Christopher Nolan, and co-produced by Emma Thomas. This movie is wrapped in action-
thriller, setting in the world where there is a dream-sharing technology, which is some people
can participate in the same dream.
Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is expert in dream-sharing manipulation and he uses it
for stealing ideas from someone’s mind through a dream. He can enter dreams consciously,
but the victims are made to believe as if the dream is real and do not realize their idea is
being replaced. If Cobb woke up, the victim would think it was just a dream. The idea theft
known as "extraction", and Cobb is claimed to be the best extractor. Cobb must not steal
ideas, but instill ideas which we call it inception. Saito (Ken Watanabe) with his team want to
instill Robert Fischer’s (Cillian Murphy) ideas to stop the expanding of Fisher’s father
company.
A dream world labyrinth that can trick the subject is designed by the brilliant architect
student, Ariadne (Ellen Page), who recently agree to join the team. When starting the
mission, Fischer’s subconscious is trained to fight the extractor. Many armed men are in
charge of attacking Cobb and his team that make it more suspense.
To instill the ideas to Fischer, they try a method which never been used called dream
layers. They make three layers dreams with certain duration. If they do not wake up on time,
they would be trapped in Limbo and could not go back to their real life. Also, when they want
to reach the second layers they have to make sure that the first layers area is safe.
The projection of Cobb’s wife, Mal (Marion Cotillard), always exists in every dream
world when Cobb is on a mission. Worst, Mal tries to thwart Cobb’s plans. What is wrong
with Cobb’s wife there?
Christopher Nolan is such a great director. I adore his movies like The Dark Knight
(2008), Transcendence (2014), The Prestige (2006), and Interstellar (2014), but, among of it I
like inception the most because the story plot make us focus to think, the visual effects are
extremely breath-taking, the actors and actress are professional, also at the ending of this
movie appear different kinds of interpretation. I think this movie is perfect.
Truly unique, like nothing I have ever seen before. Christopher Nolan certainly
covered new ground with this movie and not afraid to leave us hanging with a spectacular
ending.
