Dress Code Policy Report
EXPERIMENTAL SURVEY
The HTS:CCE conducted an experimental survey about dress code to promote discipline and
to foster pride in being a student. The guidance coordinator takes over the project together
with the help of the School Directress.
A dress code is a written policy that provides guidelines and restrictions for what can and
cannot be worn by students while they perform their school duties. A dress code policy often
pertains to both clothing and personal grooming. The purpose of a dress code is to ensure that
students can study comfortably while projecting a fashionable image and to give them a
freedom to whatever clothes they wear but with the limitations and restriction. Written dress
code policies can also protect students from discrimination on the basis of religion, disability,
gender, or other prohibited grounds under human rights legislation. The policy was
implemented every last Friday of the month.
According to the survey, most of the students’ concern is that since they are not wearing
uniform, they cannot be identified as students of HTS:CCE therefore they can take advantage
of the dress code policy by going to different places like malls or plazas without being
recognized as HTS’ students.
There is minimal negative concern to the policy in fact most of the students and parents of
the school agreed about the dress code policy. Some of the students said that they feel
confident, motivated and more engaged in learning because they can now wear their
fashionable outfits not only when there is an occasion but even at school and it does not
distract their learning. Some of the parents also said that whether there is a dress code policy
or not what matters most is the learning that the school is imparting to the students and as
long as it is not distracting and lowering the knowledge of the students, they will be okay
with the policy.
After the first trial of the policy, there is no incident of sexism, discrimination, and criticism
among the students. The survey proves that the policy is a good strategy to have a more
conducive learning environment.
