Reflection Paper about on the 5E learning Cycle

There is various strategies use in teaching science. Moreover the teachers choose the most
effective method for teaching the science subject--- the learning cycle were commonly use as
their learning instructional. Learning cycle is the teacher’s guide for the lesson planning in order
to see how each part of the lesson is going to fit together. The aim of the 5E learning cycle is to
increase student performance and enhances their skill.

Based on the 5E learning cycle there are Five stages or sequences that undertake for the
student to learn effectively. First is the engage, in this step where in the introduction of the
lesson takes place, but on the process of engaging the students into learning for the builds their
interest and generates curiosity that somehow they relate to their past experiences or
knowledge. Second stage is the explore, through the process of exploration the students skills
development occur because they form new understanding or ideas done during exploration
from the things they discover and observe if it is correlated to their past experiences or not. The
one example of students learning task is the experimentation process. Third step is Explain, in
this stage the clarification and the lesson proper occur wherein headed by the teachers, they
correct the student’s concepts about the lesson and the students listen critically to their
teachers and classmates explanation. The students can formulate an evidences regarding from
their understanding about the topic. Fourth step is the Elaborate, the student execute their
selves into different activities for them to challenge and extent their learning from the new
gathered knowledge they can relate or apply It to the new situations. Therefore, there will be
an improvement of the student’s learning skill. The last stage is the evaluate, the evaluation
process is somehow serve as assessment of the teacher to distinguish the learning of the
learner`s. In which they show their understanding of a concept and whether the learning
objective was being able to meet by the teacher or not. So in this stage it evaluates not only the
progression of the students but also the teacher’s progression.

This Learning cycle is essential on teaching science because it is a learner-centered strategy that
the students engage into different task that might lead into their learning development. It is a
performance based activity in order for the student to learn by their own and to discover or
enhance their learning skills.
