 ASF stands for: Airports security Force.

 Shahrukh Nusrat (BS-22) is the present Secretary of Aviation Division of Pakistan.
 Ghulam Sarwar Khan is Federal Minister for Aviation since 18 April 2019.
 The current Director General of ASF is Major General Zafar Ul Haq HI (M). He is 17th
Director General of ASF. He started his duties as Director General of ASF in October
2018.
 The ASF is an 8,945-personnel organization.
 The ASF was established in 1976 under the Airports Security Force Act LXXVII of 1975
initially as the Directorate of the Department of Civil Aviation. After the hijacking of a
Pakistan International Airlines aero plane in March 1981, sensing the contradictory
requirements of security and facilitation, the Airports Security Force (ASF) was
separated, and in December 1983, was placed under the folds of the Ministry of
Defense.
 Later, in 2013 under the umbrella of Cabinet Secretariat, an Aviation Division was
created and Airports Security Force (ASF), Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) came under the control of new division. The
Aviation Division is headed by the Aviation Secretary of Pakistan. The ASF is mainly
responsible for security of Airports and aero planes.
 ASF is a part of Cabinet Secretariat, Aviation Division, and Pakistan.
 Headquarters of ASF is in: Karachi.

 First Amendment: Short title and commencement. This act may be called the “Airport
Security Force (Amendment) Act, 2012”.

used on the place of “Force Commander”.
 Third Amendment: Amendment of section 6, Act LXXVII of 1975.In sub section 2,
“Police order, 2002 (Chief Executive’s order No.22 of 2002)” to be used on the place of
“Police Act, 1861 (V of 1861)”.
 Fourth Amendment: Amendment of section 7F, Act LXXVII of 1975. “Director” to be
used on the place of “Deputy Director”.
 Fifth Amendment: Amendment of section 7G, Act LXXVII of 1975.
 The Federal Government may, by notification in the official gazette, appoint a
Deputy Director General (Coordination) and such number of Directors, Deputy
Directors, Assistant Directors and Deputy Assistant Director as it may think fit.”
 “Sergeants” and “Corporals” to be used on the place of “Selection Grade Security
Guards” and “Security Guards”.

operated by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
 Military airbases are generally operated by the Pakistan Air Force. The exceptions being
Dhamial Army Aviation Airbase in Rawalpindi and Tarbela Army Aviation Airbase which
are operated by the Pakistan Army.
 ASF was raised in 1976.
 ASF have Police powers in their domain.
 Effective security of any setup needs the search of everyone going inside.
 ASF comes under Ministry of Civil Aviation.
 The main objective of ASF is to provide security to civil aviation installations.

 Air traffic control responsibilities at airports are usually divided into at least two main
areas: ground and tower.
 After getting the boarding pass the passengers are not allowed to go out of the airport
to avoid the repetition of the process and for other security purposes.
 ASF Act 1975 is called the Airports Security Force Act, 1975.
 A change in rule of ASF can be made by notification in gazette.
 The Aviation Division is headed by the Aviation Secretary of Pakistan.
