A Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 9

COMPETENCY/IES

 illustrates the six trigonometric ratios: sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant,
and cotangent.

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of this lesson, the learner is able to:

 understand the six trigonometric ratios of an acute angle of triangle

 use trigonometric ratios to find the measure of an angle of a right triangle,
when given two sides.
 Demonstrate the six trigonometric functions to the class

II. SUBJECT MATTER

 Topic: Six Trigonometric Ratios

 Reference: Next Century Mathematics, Unit 6, Phoenix Publishing House.

III. PROCEDURE

A. DAILY ROUTINES
 Opening Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance
 Classroom Management

B. REVIEW

(The teacher will ask what is Pythagorean Theorem.)

C. MOTIVATION

Activate students' prior knowledge by having a quick class discussion/review,

using some guiding questions:

 What is the sum of the interior angles of a right triangle?

 Can you label the hypotenuse, short leg, long leg, right angle, and vertices of a
right triangle?
 Where in life have you seen triangles outside of this classroom?
D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION

E. APPLICATION

(Showing an illustrated example)

Find the six function of the triangle. Who would like to find the first three
functions?
F. GENERALIZATION

1. What are the six trigonometric ratio?

2. Demonstrate the six trigonometric functions to the class

IV. EVALUATION

Find the six trigonometric functions of the triangle.

V. ASSIGNMENT
Memorize the six trigonometric functions
