Subject: Assessment 2- Part A: Presentation

Greetings,
Reference to the subject assessment, you have been
automatically grouped in groups of 3.
I have attached a snapshot of an Excel sheet with your
name and the group to which you belong. As apparent we
have 8 groups in 82262C.
Each student should be able to find her/his team members
in the group. Each one of you is expected to work with your
teammates towards the delivery of the subject
presentation.
Now, for the subject assessment, I have detailed all you
need to know, herein bellow:
1)There are 4 BPM case studies, which I have emailed to
everyone.
i.e.:
 CS1: BPI Cambridge innovation process
 CS2: BPI in health sector
 CS3: BPI in small business
 CS4: BPI in system integration
2)One case study has been allocated to each group. You
should find your relevant case study in the Excel sheet
(which I have attached to this announcement).
3)Each group must make a presentation with the
following specifications:
i) Maximum 10 slides for each presentation (about 3
slides for each student)
ii) 10 minutes presentation time (for each group)
iii) 5 minutes Q&A time for each group
iv) Q&A will be done by:
- The Lecturer
- Peers
v) Every student should present one part of this
presentation.
vi) You will present in the online class via “Collaborate
Ultra”.
vii) The presentation date: Week 8 (Thursday 9th of
April for 82262C)
viii) Each team should submit this presentation to the
relevant link in the BB (after completion of the
presentation in the class).
ix) Each presentation should include:
- Cover page
- Three distinct parts (each addressing one
requirement detailed in part 4 of this
memorandum).
- Conclusion
- References
 The cover page must contain the groups number,
team members name & student ID
4) The content of your presentation:
Each presentation should have 3 parts and each part
should be made and delivered by only one of the
students in your team.
These parts are:
i) Provide a background for this business case.
Critically analyse the business case. (to be
delivered by student 1, in 3 minutes)
 What does this business case discuss?
 What is the intention of the author?
 Is there any area of the business case (in
general and as a whole) that needs to be
improved? What? Why? How?
ii) Each business case, is addressing a Business
Process improvement (BPI). In regards to this BPI:
(to be delivered by student 2, in 3 minutes):
 You should critically analyse this BPI
methodology in this case and discuss if you
agree / not agree with this method. Why?
 How does this BPI improve the attributes of
its relevant organisation?
 What are the risks involved?
iii) In regards to the above BPI methodology, you have
to address the following (delivered by student 3):

 What are the respective implementation

processes?

 Critically analyse these implementation

processes.

 Discuss how this method is relevant to what

you have learned so far in this subject?

5) Miscellaneous:
i) Each group has to select one student of the said
team as group’s representative.
ii) Each group should email me the name of their
representative.
iii) Only the representative should upload the
presentation to the relevant link in BB.
iv) During the presentation, the representative of
each team should open the presentation and close
the presentation (with a short conclusion)
v) The presentation will be marked according to the
relevant Learning Rubric. You will all be marked
as individuals with respect to:
- The content and the structure of the part that
you present

Vi) All the students should contribute to the team
work, make their respective part, deliver the

HI JAMES GOOD MORNING ALL

I AM JYOTI AND WE ARE GROUP 3,

I WILL ELABORATE THE FIRST PART AND

MY FRIEND KIRANDEEP WILL DISCUSS THE 2ND PART

the adoption of Business Process Management is targeted to support:

• Consistent quality and timeliness of outputs to reliably meet standards and deadlines.

• Better labor management ensuring that tasks can be performed by the cheapest resource versus
competitors

• The capacity to implement technologies (such as workflow systems, document management

systems, scanning and business intelligence)

Limited availability of a comprehensive reference source of Small Business BPM tools,

templates, examples and expertise was a major issue encountered during the initiative.
The environment presented constraints on financial and human resources, but the flat
organizational and decision-making structure, limited number of stakeholders and the proactive
culture enabled many tasks to progress more rapidly than anticipated.

Business Process Management (BPM) and the fundamentals of improving a selected process

HI JAMES GOOD MORNING ALL

I AM JYOTI AND WE ARE GROUP 3,

WE ARE TWO PEOPLE PRESENTENTING THE WORK RELATED TO THE GIVEN CASE
STUDY

I WILL ELABORATE THE FIRST PART AND

MY FRIEND KIRANDEEP WILL DISCUSS THE 2ND PART

THE GIVEN CASE STUDY IS BPM IN SMALL BUSINESS

The(‘‘The Business’’) case organization was established to develop a suite of

outsourced Management Accounting services designed to meet the needs of small and
medium sized, professional services businesses. The case study has shown that
mainstream BPM tools and techniques can be applied in a Small Business environment
to yield benefits similar in nature to those that would be targeted in larger businesses.

ADVANTAGES

the adoption of Business Process Management is targeted to support:

• Consistent quality and timeliness of outputs to reliably meet standards and

deadlines.
• Better labor management ensuring that tasks can be performed by the cheapest
resource

• The capacity to implement technologies (such as workflow systems, document

management systems, scanning and business intelligence)

AREA OF IMPROVEMENT

DYSFUNCTIONAL BUSINESS PROCESS:

each department has its own business process which does not integrate with those of
other departments results in processes that lack structure, and over time become
laden and bloated with non- value added activity

Limited availability of a comprehensive reference source of Small Business BPM tools,

templates, examples and expertise was a major issue encountered during the initiative.

The environment presented constraints on financial and human resources, but the flat
organizational and decision-making structure, limited number of stakeholders and the
proactive culture enabled many tasks to progress more rapidly than anticipated.

Preparing a Process Governance Framework; 2. Preparing a Process Architecture; 3.

Modelling the core service delivery processes; 4. Developing a pilot Process and
Procedures Library; and 5. Developing a demonstration Resource Allocation System.

PGF It was identified that The Business would require the documentation of processes
for the decision making purposes, process roles and responsibilities process standards
and measure and compliance

a lack of readily available examples of Process Governance Frameworks. There was

limited practical guidance available on how to develop such a framework. This made
the process far more time consuming than could be the case if best-practise guides,
templates and examples were readily available.

including practical guides and examples would assist Small Businesses to articulate
BPM practice and benefits as well as enabling such businesses to more efficiently
establish important BPM foundations.

—Mainstream tools and standards were adopted in the modelling process. These were
generally easy to use and readily applicable within the Small Business context

The modelling process involved documentation review, process observation, model

drafting, Stakeholder review and revision
