1st National Workshop On

‘Skill development of Orthopaedicians ’


BACKGROUND

Since long, India has been producing a large number of doctors most of which are mentally oriented to
clinical specialties. But dilemma of situation is medical college in India are focusing mainly on classroom
teaching without much focus on skill development of doctors. Not many efforts are made to learn from the
experiences of developed nations and a very few open fora are organized in the developing countries for the
dissemination of research findings of the developed nations in relation to skill development of clinicians.
Doctors suffer a lot at the hands of multinational implant & drug companies as well as corporate hospitals
who allure them in name of skill development and use them as cheap labor for their prosperity. This training
is based upon skill development of Orthopaedicians and allied doctors who are upto 5 years progress in their
career and who wants to improve skills in there already career.

PROGRAM COVERAGE

• To train a critical mass of Orthopaedicians, Health professionals and Academician in important


domain of skill development
• To initiate research on injury epidemiology, interventions and program implementation strategies to
prevent and minimize the burden of injuries and occupational hazards in India. .
• To raise awareness and facilitate dialog among medical colleges and corporate hospital research in
India.
• To foster collaboration among Orthopaedicians and other stakeholders within India and establish
linkages with the global injury research community.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Orthopaedic surgeons, district health officers, independent consultants, medical college faculty,
private health entrepreneurs, government and private hospital settings, faculty and students
medical institutes.

TRAINING APPROACH

The programme pedagogy is based on Interactive sessions & Lectures, Experiential learning, DO-IT-
YOURSELF Approach, Case Discussions, Training materials include PPT handouts; worksheets, etc. Hands-
on experience will be gained by doing exercises and working in small groups throughout the Programme.
Focusing on the practical application of these skills, participants will work on real case situations and present
their results.

Dr. AniL Sood (Organizing Chairman) MBBS, FAGE, DNB (Orthopedic surgery), M.N.A.M.S, MD (Community Medicine),

Diploma in Health Economics


Dr. AniL Sood did his MBBS from the prestigious Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and DNB
(Orthopedics) from Mohan Dai Oswal Regional Cancer Research Institute, Ludhiana and MD
(Community Medicine) from Government Medical College, Amritsar. He also holds a Basic
Course degree in Health Economics from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGI)
Chandigarh.
Before joining IIHMR Bangalore he was working as Associate Professor in the department of Community Medicine, Sri
Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar. He has attended and presented research papers in
several Regional and National Conferences and workshops to keep himself up to date in various domains of
Orthopaedics. He was an active participant in WHO-- Johns Hopkins University-- Department of Health and Family
Welfare, GOI International Project “Road Safety in 10 Countries” (RS-10) and has also been appointed independent
monitors on behalf of WHO for monitoring NID & SNID rounds of Pulse Polio Immunization on various occasions. Dr.
AniL Sood has worked under various capacities (researcher, physician, manager, and a medical teacher) for more than
six years. His areas of interest include Knee Arthroplasty & Shoulder Arthroscopy. A lifelong learner .

DURATION AND VENUE


The programme is of 3-day duration. The programme will commence at 9.00 am on 26th January 2017 and conclude at
5.00 pm on 28th January 2018. The programme will be held at the Bangalore.

P.N. – All registration will be over by 31st December 2017. No more registration will be entertained in New Year

The arrangement of stay would be taken care by the participants only.

CERTIFICATION
A certificate of participation in training on completion of the programme will be issued by the Institute of Health
Management Research, Bangalore.

PROGRAMME FEES
Minimal registration fees are kept. Only Rs 1000/ per day
The fee covers tuition fees, training material, lunch & tea/coffee during the program.

DISCOUNT
Group Discount: Any organization sponsoring four or more participants to the programme will be entitled to a discount
of 10% on total fee payable provided that at least four participants actually attend the programme.
Last date of Registration: 31th December 2017
