To Whom This May Concern,

In response to your job posting, I would like to express my strong interest in your School
Counselor position. I am currently part of the Seattle School District as an Instructional Assistant
and am working towards my Masters in Professional School Counseling with, City University of
Seattle/Tacoma. I will be receiving my masters in teaching in June 2020.

I have been working as an instructional assistant with the special education program for
two years. In my role as an instructional assistant I work with two our wheel chair bond with our
resource program. I have worked with a diverse groups of students with ADD/ADHD, autism,
specific learning disabilities, and non-compliant behaviors. The two students I work With both
are medically fragile which required me to assist them with transitions to and from class,
bathrooms, recess and Specialist (Art, PE, Music, Library). I provide one of the two students
with 1:1 math lessons where we work on addition, subtraction and multiplication. In my current
placement at John Muir Elementary I worked as a School Counselor intern through City
University of Seattle/Tacoma.

During this internship I provide small lunch bunch groups, creating and delivering a Tier
II guided recess program for students struggling with social emotional skills in larger recess
settings. I attend PBIS MTSS-Tier II PD, collaborate with a mentor counselor; classroom
teachers and administration to provide the best support for students in a diverse Title I school. I
have been able to provide differentiated instruction, multi-sensory lesson plans, and social skills
lessons to meet the needs of all K-5 students at John Muir Elementary.

With the experience I am gaining from being a school counselor intern with the City
University of Seattle/Tacoma and what I have learned as an Instructional Assistant, Lead Day
Camp Counselor and high school sports coach I have learned many skills that will work to my
advantage in this position. In these positions I have learned how to establish and communicate
clear objectives, assist students in developing skills and meeting goals, work in high pressure
environments, and supervising a group of five employees. I have also learned organization skills,
how to work in team work environments, networking skills and communication skills that allow
me to work with a variety of people, specifically parents and the staff within the building.
I believe I am a great candidate for this position, having the required skills and
qualifications within this field and what I am learning within the School counseling program at
City University of Seattle/Tacoma. Please consider my resume and my contact information that
is above. I look forward to hearing back from you and thank you for your consideration and time.
