1. There are 7 English alphabets used in Roman Numerals.


2. I , V and X are basic Roman Numerals.
Repeating a letter repeats its value.
3. Letter V is never repeated.
4. Each I that comes after V and X adds one to the value of
V and X.
For example: VII - 5+2 = 7
5. The same symbol is not repeated more than 3 times together.
6. We can use one time I before V and X.
7. I that comes before V and X subtracts one from the value
of V and X.
For example: IX – 10 – 1 = 9
8. There is no symbol to represent zero.
