a. Name the above process - ___________________________

b. Complete the passage with the help of the words given in the clue box.

The rays of the ______ fall on oceans, rivers and ponds. This makes the water warm and it changes
into __________________________. This is called evaporation. The water vapour rises up in the air

Q1. Identify the process, colour the picture and answer the questions given below.

a. Name the above process – Water Cycle

b. Complete the passage with the help of the words given in the clue box.

The rays of the _Sun fall on oceans, rivers and ponds. This makes the water warm and it
changes into water vapour. This is called evaporation. The water vapour rises up in the air and
comes in contact with cool air and form tiny water droplets. This is called condensation. These
tiny droplets of water join to form clouds. When the drops get too heavy, the clouds cannot hold
them and they fall as rain. This is called precipitation. The rain water flows back into the
oceans, rivers and ponds. The excess rain water goes deep into the soil and is known as
underground water.

Clue Box -
precipitation, Sun, clouds, water vapour, underground, condensation

c. What do you think will happen in nature, if the process of evaporation does not happen?
Answer in your own words.

Ans. If evaporation does not happen, then the water from the lakes and oceans will not get
converted into water vapour and hence all the further steps in the water cycle also will not
happen. Due to this there will be no rains and no water. Without water life on Earth will not be
possible.
