A pleasant day Grade 2 pupils! How are you feeling today? Are
you ready to learn more and enjoy? Come! Let us put a smile on
our face, be happy as we will study together and have some fun.

This time, let us enjoy and learn more together about our new
lesson. It is very important for you, Grade 2 pupils to learn this
lesson so that you can answer questions easily through clues.
We have two types of clues the picture clues and context clues.
Picture clue helps you to understand the unknown word while
context clue helps you to define the unknown word. These are
two ways to help understand what we read, clarify understanding
and justify good predictions later on. This will further help you
comprehend better unknown words and retell the story on your
own. Always remember to pay attention to what you are reading.

The word sprout based from the pictures means grow.

The word eager based from Tina’s facial expression means excited.

Here are examples of context clues:

1. The river was so dry so we could not get any water.

The word dry means “lack of water”.

2. The thunder roared so loud that it made her terrified.

The word terrified means “afraid”.

and answer the following activities. At the end of the lesson, you are
expected to:
