1.1.- Generalities

The control system CMC3 Series includes the visualization of the events of the control system
through the car and landing position indicators, as well as optional forms in the control cabinet.

These messages appear in two types of situations:

• Breakdown of the control system (see 1.2 “Code Interpretation”)

• Special actioning situations, such as review or actioning of the STOP switch of the
inspection operating panel.

The visualized information includes an indicator symbol (*) and a digit from 0 to 9. In case of
breakdown or special functioning, it will appear a number from 0 to 9 in the digit of the units of the
car and landing position indicators that will identify the cause of the anomaly and will help to correct
the failure.

On the left of the digit, an indicative symbol will appear blinking in the display of the tens. For
example, with Breakdown 0, the following visualization will appear:

*0

As a complement to the supplied code in the position indicator in case of breakdown situation, the
LED-diodes of the landing registers will show the following status:
IRC-34/36 CMC-3-SERIES CONTORL SYSTEM – LOCALIZATION OF BREAKDOWNS Rev.:00 (02/2007) Page 2 of 10

- In universal control system (PB), they will be on.

- In selective control system (1BC/2BC), they will be off in the failure situations in which the
registered calls are deleted.

The direction arrows will be always off in universal control system as well as in selective control
systems.
Some of these breakdowns are blocking; that means that after correcting the breakdown, it is
necessary to activate the RESET push-button of the control board (if the tension was not deactivated
for its repair) in order for the start-up procedure to be executed and it allows the correct functioning
of the lift. The breakdowns caused by parameters of the group *9 cannot be eliminated with a
simple RESET, it is necessary to restore values with the POME.

1.2- Code Interpretation

Besides the breakdown code before mentioned, the control system CMC3-Series, it also includes a
series of failure codes associated to it and detectable with the POME maintenance operating panel.
The corresponding hexadecimal code is also indicated.

Breakdown 0: Failure of the door sensors and temporal blocks (Non blocking)

The car is in breakdown situation when it detects any of the door sensors is activated during more
than 10 seconds or non correct sequences of elements of door control, overload and
immediate stop (VVFV). When the situation of the defective sensor is corrected, the control system
will be automatically out of the breakdown situation and the lift will be reincorporated to the service.

The considered sensors are the following:

- Door Photo-control (photocell or light curtain)
- Push-button of door opening
- Door limit switches
- Overload
- Immediate Stop
- Temperature Sensors

Breakdown 1: Failure of Contactors (Blocking)

• If when starting-up, any of the contactors are connected, this breakdown Hill be
dumped (LEDs UD LS LC off prior to the start-up). When this happens, the lift
will be in a situation of a blocking breakdown. Once the breakdown is corrected,
it is necessary to carry out a RESET to renew the service.
• When the contactors fall, this test is also carried out during 400 ms. If any contactor
takes more time than the indicated in falling (LEDs UD LS LC off in status of
stopped), the lift will be also blocked with this breakdown until the maintenance staff
takes place.

• Failure of CPI or VVFV non Ready variator, Inmstop signal

• Failure of the CMC control plate

Breakdown 2: Inversion of phases, both reversing gears activated (Blocking)

IRC-34/36 CMC-3-SERIES CONTORL SYSTEM – LOCALIZATION OF BREAKDOWNS Rev.:00 (02/2007) Page 3 of 10

• Cancelled (inversion of phases)

• Detected both reversing gears activated

Breakdown 3: Review, recovery and SR Module

• Failure in the SR module or elements related to it by SA signal. The

sequence of the signa lis not correct.
• Lift in review or recovery mode, functional status or failures of wiring in
the review operating panel, failure of the car board, in reduced pit,
vigilance relay of landing door opening.
• Failure of the control borrad or the car board.

Breakdown 4: Opening Door Series when operating (Non blocking)

• Opening of the presence series and/or interlock with the lift operating.
• Failure of the CMC control board.

Breakdown 5: Failure of opening of doors or series (Non blocking)

The series 40 or 41 is not opened inside the established time when there is an
order to open TO and/or TOD, possible failure in the operator, failure in relays
TO or TOD.
• Failure of the CMC control board

Breakdown 6: Error of the screen count (Non blocking)

This breakdown appears when the lift stops out of the stop screen because of an incorrect count or
of a sliding. In this case, the breakdown 6 is dumped during 5 seconds and afterwards, it s
corrected.
Possible causes:
• Incorrect activation/deactivation of the reversing gears.
• Incorrect screen interpretation, because of:
• Distance of change
• Simultaneousness of screens with changes or photo-switches Fsup. Finf.
• Cuts in screens or bad overlap between them (Landing Screen)
• Incorrect centering of photo-switches with the screen line
• Accumulated dirt
• Defective photo-switches
• Parasites caused by inductive elements, connector, motor, coil, reactance type.
• Failure on programming of the screen order
• In lifts of regulated traction, stop screen of less than 80 mm (incorrect adjustment of the
speed control system), the car loses level and the photo-switch is out of the screen in the boarding
or unboarding processes.

Notes: 1.) The correct aligning and screen distribution should be generally checked.
2.) The functioning of the photo-switch should be verified as follows:
IRC-34/36 CMC-3-SERIES CONTORL SYSTEM – LOCALIZATION OF BREAKDOWNS Rev.:00 (02/2007) Page 4 of 10

- When there is no object in front, the red LED is on. The LED turns off when there is an
object in front.
- Check the supply tension of the photo-switch (24 V DC between the clamps 0V and VE)
- Check there is tension between 0V and SF with screen.
- In the base plate, the signals of the photo-switch can be checked through the FT LEDs
(copied), FS (Upper) and FI (lower).

Breakdown 7: Failure in door closing (Non blocking)

If there is an order of door closing TU TUD, it is not achieved to re-establish the

presence series and/or the interlock series; several tries are carried out. The car
and landing doors can be or not physically closed, depending on the situation or
failure cause.

Breakdown 8: Non screen detection; Failure of communication with the car; It is

not out of the screen; photo-switch failure when levelling (Blocking)

• Failure in the communication between the control boards and the car board because of a wiring
failure of board defect
• It is not detected any activity of the signal of the photo-switches (FI FS FT), their functioning
is controlled by time in all functional phases. The cause of this failure can be a lack of activity of the
photo-switch because of its failure (it does not detect the outlet and/or the inlet in the screen) or
because there is no movement of the car and there are movement conditions confirmed (traction
failure).

Breakdown 9: Program Error; opening of the second series; supply failure

(Blocking)

• The control system detects the opening of the safety series by SEG. If this signal does
not exist, the lift is blocked waiting for it.
• In lifts of hydraulic traction, if the series opening is produced at the upper floor, the lift is blocked
until the series is recovered and a Reset is forced.
• If the failure is produced without an opening of the series, it can be control board and/or
altered parameters resident in Eeprom. In both cases, the lift cannot be recovered without
substituting the board and/or parametrizing correctly the Eeprom with the POME operating
panel.

In the column of the Breakdown No., some indications appear PO (abbreviation of

POME) that correspond to special functions non indicated as breakdowns in the display
and that they appear as breakdowns only in the POME operating panel.

Explanation “LS Column”

The LS assignation is placed in the EPROM memory and it displaces according to the program
version, being the last ones near the direction 79C0 H. If we modify this table, we can define the
collective breakdown code in LS and govern the collective breakdown relay.

How it codifies:
We can read the hexadecimal code in the EEPROM A300 …
The decimal code is shown in the POME operating panel in the function F1 or F3 FFT xxx.

Assignation LS shown in the series luminous.

8X H The collective breakdown relay actuates.

1.3.2 Acoustic Signals

The control board and the car board incorporate a buzzer that is activated when breakdown
situations take place.

Control Board:

• In permanent breakdowns: It sounds once every second (Door block, absence of

communication with the car, opened securities series, etc.)
• Because there is no signal of the photo-switch: Five consecutive signals, immediately
after, the car starts up to go to correct the failure.
• In failures of situations that allow to continue the functioning: Just one acoustic signal
(When connecting the control system or pressing the RESET push-button when in the
process of closing, the limit switch to open fails or in the process of opening, the limit switch
to close fails, etc.)

Car Board:

• Because of actioning of the overload contact: The signal remains while the contact is
activated.
• The landing door is open alter the maximum time allowed.
