SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

READING AND WRITING

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the students will have been able to:
a. define what descriptive text is;
b. discuss and distinguish the unique features of a descriptive text;
c. differentiate a descriptive text from a narrative text;
d. present selected and organized information from a descriptive text.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Activity
Motivation:
1. The teacher instructs the learners to work with their respective groups for the first activity.
2. Each group has to pick a word and give descriptions according to the five senses. They will
present their work using a graphic organizer. On their graphic organizer, they have to leave
the topic blank.
3. The other groups have to guess what word they are describing.
B. Analysis
1. The teacher asks the learners how were they able to guess the answer.
2. The teacher asks the learners whether they were able to create a picture in their head while
they were listening to the descriptions.
3. The teacher asks the learners what kind of text uses description.
4. The teacher asks the learners to give a definition of a descriptive text based from the
activity.
C. Abstraction
1. The teacher presents the:
a. structure of a descriptive text.
 Referent
 Quality and parties
b. Subjective and Objective descriptions
c. Styles features of a descriptive text
2. The learners differentiate descriptive text from that of a narrative text.
D. Application
1. The learners will have another group activity.
2. On the same group, they will be given a descriptive text. They then have to identify the
descriptions that appeal to the senses.
3. The learners have to present their descriptions using graphic organizers.
4. The teacher presents the rubric for the activity.
IV. EVALUATION
1. The teacher uses a rubric to evaluate the output of the learners
V. ASSIGNMENT
1. Read at least two descriptive texts and identify the descriptions used.
