The Municipal Health Officer of Maayon, Capiz is requesting a two week timeout from accepting Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) or Returning Residents from December 6, 2020 to January 5, 2021. This is to allow health workers at the Maayon Rural Health Unit to rest and recover after recent exposure to COVID-19 led to some testing positive. The health workers have been dedicated frontliners since March 2020, conducting additional duties like border control, managing treatment facilities, and transporting LSIs while also fulfilling regular health office obligations. The timeout is needed to prevent long-term health issues in the exhausted staff.

Municipal Health Office

Maayon, Capiz 5809

December 2, 2020

HON. RAYMOND D. MALAPAJO

Municipal Mayor
Chairman, Municipal Task Force Against COVID-19
Maayon, Capiz

Dear Mayor,

As you may have known, the undersigned and the rest of the personnel
and health practitioners at Maayon Health Rural Health Unit (RHU) have been
dedicated and in close coordination with all-concerned authorities since the
onslaught of this world pandemic occurred. In fact, since March 2020, our
health staffs have been engaged in the following additional tasks:

1. Border control duties

2. Management of Municipal & Barangay Temporary Treatment &
Monitoring Facilities
3. Transport, Assessment and Monitoring of Locally Stranded Individual
(LSI), Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR), and Returning
Overseas Filipinos (ROFs).

These were done alongside our already-given mandate of obligations in

the RHU i.e. eight (8) hours duty at the Municipal Health Office and Barangay
Health Stations.

However, with the recent turn of events, particularly the recent

lockdown of our RHU facility brought about the exposure of our health
workers the COVID-19 virus, some of whom tested positive for SARS Cov-2,
the undersigned wishes to seek from your office a TIMEOUT of at least two
(2) weeks in our municipality’s acceptance of Locally Stranded
Individual (LSIs) or Returning Residents beginning December 6, 2020
until January 5, 2021.
This will allow our health workers, who are also regarded as frontliners,
to rejuvenate their exhausted bodies to prevent any long-term and future
concerns.

The undersigned appeals to you, on behalf of the personnel, staff and

health practitioners of Maayon RHU, and in light with spirit of Christmas that
is just around the corner.

Maayon RHU looks forward for your favorable conclusion and remark
regarding this matter.

Respectfully yours,

SANDRA D. SORONGON, M.D.

Municipal Health Officer
