Topic: PLANNING THE ENTERPRISE


Learning Target/s: At the end of this lesson, the student will be able to describe the marketing mix (7Ps) in
relation to the business opportunity.

In its broadest sense, marketing is about creating and accumulating customers. Marketing plans
are designed to capture market share and defeat competitors. The marketing function and the
marketing mix serve the overall business strategy. It is summarized in 7 Ps by which the
enterprise will engage competitors and gain customers. These Ps are Positioning, Product,
Packaging, Place, People, Promotion, and Price.

ACTIVITY 1: Three Column Chart


Directions: Study the notes sent to your group chat and fill in the needed information on the three column chart
below.

ACTIVITY 2: Venn Diagram


Directions: Choose an industry or market you want to compare (soft drinks, cars, apparel/clothes, footwear,
etc.) You may compare it may be according to the quality being sought and the price that the customer is
willing to pay. In footwear, for example, there are excellent quality and premium-priced brands, there are good
quality and medium- priced- brands, there are low quality and sub- economy priced brands.

ACTIVITY 3: Develop a brand name!
Directions: Assume that you have your own product and think about its brand name place it inside the box and
write a brief explanation why did you come up with such name.

Week 5

ACTIVITY 3: Product or Service Conceptualizing and Prototyping


Directions: Conceptualize your own product or service that will make potential buyers take interest. No matter
how crude, build a prototype of your product. For example, if your product is a food item, try to come up with
the best tasting item. In case of food item, conduct a food taste among your family member. For non-food item,
a product testing can be conducted. During the taste test and product test please have a documentation of this
activity and send it to the email [email protected] .

Activity 4: It’s All in the Packaging!


Directions: Get your creative juices flowing by using an existing product. Better yet, if you have your own
business idea or prototype, think of a unique way of packaging it. To help you out, you may consider any or a
combination of the five purposes of packaging on the notes that you have read. Be resourceful to find ordinary
materials in your house to be put on together as a unique packaging for a chosen product. These can be
scraps of wrapper, cardboards, colored papers, foil, ribbons, trimming, etc. Please take a photo of your output
for this activity and attached it to this Learning Activity Sheet.
