but you would like to review the basic Greek vocabulary and grammar?

In this eBook, you will find the vocabulary together with the grammar covered
in the book “Communicate in Greek 1” (Επικοινωνήστε ελληνικά 1, εκδόσεις
Δέλτος), written by Kleanthes and Frosso Arvanitakis.

This eBook covers the vocabulary used in the first 12 lessons of the book 1.

Additionally, we have included extra videos and explanations made by the

Omilo teachers, to make everything a bit more alive and clearer.

Why Omilo created this eBook?

The language book “Communicate in Greek 1” consists of 24 lessons.
Omilo teachers regularly use this book to teach the Beginner 1 and Beginner
2 levels. The book also includes a vocabulary section at the back,
alphabetically organized for all the 24 lessons together.

However, the language book does not include a vocabulary list per lesson.
Over the years, many students asked us for such an option, because it helps
to study the required vocabulary, lesson by lesson.

With this eBook you get a good opportunity to refresh the basic vocabulary
per lesson, which you acquired during your first steps of learning Greek.
Of course, you can also use it in parallel with the course book.

Saying your name

Με λένε Μαρία = Λέγομαι Μαρία = Είμαι η Μαρία (My name is Marina, I am Maria)

Formal: Πώς σας λένε; Με λένε Μαρία. → Εσάς; (What is your name?)

Note: After the prepositions «από - με - σε – για» you ALWAYS use the
Accusative form.

Examples

Είμαι από τον Καναδά. / Είμαι από την Ελλάδα. /Η Μάγια είναι από το Βέλγιο.

Masculine “s” drops off in accusative (ONLY FOR MASCULINE GENDER)

Ο Καναδάς → Είμαι από τον Καναδά
Ο Κώστας → Ο καφές είναι για τον Κώστα
Ο Δημήτρης → Μένω με τον Δημήτρη

Ο Δημήτρης είναι από την Ελλάδα → Γεια σου, Δημήτρη

Ο κύριος Κώστας είναι από την Γερμανία → Γεια σας, κύριε Κώστα

Σε + (τον, την , το) = στον, στην, στο

Ο Γιάννης μένει στον Καναδά (= σε τον Καναδά)

More Greek Language and Culture…

Since 1996 Omilo has been welcoming people from all over the world to Greece and
introducing them to the Greek Language and Culture. The Greek course locations
(Athens, Nafplion, Syros, Lefkada), the friendly teachers, the international students,
