TASK 2 –
Conclusion
Writing a conclusion

- Summarize the main points

- Restate your opinion
Question: Some people believe that children should not be given
homework every day, while others believe that they must get homework
every day in order to be successful at school. Discuss both views and give
your opinion.

In conclusion, while daily homework can help children gain a greater

understanding of school lessons, they lack the freedom to explore
their personal interests. Therefore, on balance, I remain firmly
convinced that the idea of providing daily assignments should be
abolished
Question: Some people think that children should be home schooled when
they are very young while others think it is better for them to attend a
kindergarten. Which opinion do you agree with?

In conclusion, sending children to kindergarten allows them to

develop their social skills and participate in non-academic activities
to foster their holistic growth. I, therefore, remain firmly convinced
that enrolling kids in kindergarten is a wiser decision.
Question: Many children are encouraged by their parents to get a part time
job in their free time. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

In conclusion, while part time jobs can provide children with the
opportunity to gain valuable work experience and appreciate the
value of money, they will lack freedom to explore their personal
interests and they may end up ignoring their school responsibilties.
Therefore, on balance, I remain firmly convinced that the merits are
eclipsed by the demerits.
Question: More and more people are overweight. Why is this happening?
What can be done to overcome this?

In conclusion, obesity is mainly caused by a sedentary lifestyle as

well as a poor eating habit. This essay suggested that the solutions
to this problem are twofold: to encourage a more active lifestyle and
to adopt a balanced diet.
Question: Some people think it is a good thing for senior managers to have
much higher salaries than the other workers in a company. To what extent
do you agree or disagree?

In conclusion, not only are senior managers more experienced in

their fields, but they also assume greater responsibilities at work. I,
therefore, remain firmly convinced that senior managers deserve
higher salaries compared to their subordinates.
Question: More and more people are choosing to socialize online
rather than face to face. Is this a positive or negative development?

To sum up, not only does socializing online create difficulties in building
strong connections, but also leads to the possibility of facing depression. I,
therefore, remain firmly convinced that the growing trend in online social
interaction can only be seen as a negative for society.
