NOTE: If the KIT SAFETY-RAT,INTERFACE (RSIK1) is not available, you can also use this safety
interface:
- BH4016A3.
NOTE: The function of the KIT SAFETY-RAT,INTERFACE (RSIK1) is to prevent the RAT gearbox
from damage from the ground test motor (high pressure leakage).
(a) Remove the bolts (3), the washers (2) and the cover plate (1).
(b) Push in the adapter pinion (11) of the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) (7).
(c) Use the PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG and the DRIFT - PUNCH to remove the locking spring
(12) from the relief groove.
(d) Remove the adapter pinion (11).
(e) Install the adapter pinion (13) to the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) (7).
(f) Push in the adapter pinion (13) of the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) (7).
(g) Use the PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG and the DRIFT - PUNCH to install the locking spring
(12). Make sure the adapter pinion (13) is installed correctly.
NOTE: When you pull the adapter pinion (13), it must not come out.
(h) Loosely install the screws (5) to the RAT from the KIT SAFETY-RAT,INTERFACE (RSIK1) .
(i) TORQUE the screws (5) to between 132.76 and 159.31 lbf.in (1.50 and 1.80 m.daN).
NOTE: All arrows on the adapter plate (6) must point to the RAT.
(k) Loosely install the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) (7), on the screws (5) with
the washers (8) and the nuts (9).
(l) TORQUE the nuts (9) to between 132.76 and 159.31 lbf.in (1.50 and 1.80 m.daN).
(m) Connect the discharge hose to the adapter plate (6) and to the CONTAINER-FUEL RESISTANT,
TRANSPARENT PLASTIC.
(n) Connect the hydraulic hoses of the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) to a
GROUND POWER CART - HYDRAULIC, RESERVOIR MIN. 150 L.
NOTE: The motor flow during the test is approximately 140 +8 l.min or -8 l.min (37.0 +2.1
USgal.mn or -2.1 USgal.mn) at 206 bar (2988 psi). For the function test of the RAT-gov-
ernor, the motor flow will increase. Thus, the capacity of the ground power cart must be
140 l.min (37 USgal.mn) at 206 bar (2987.7766 psi).
NOTE: On the hydraulic ground-power cart, make sure that the reservoir selector valve is set to:
- The open loop position
or
- The test stand reservoir position.
(o) Make sure that the drain hole points down when the CHECK-MOTOR
GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) is installed.
(p) If installed, remove the drain plug (10) of the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) .
NOTE: For the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND, RAT AGE10600A, B, C, D or Hycom HRT01 the
drain plug (10) must be removed.
NOTE: For the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND, RAT RATMK (Testfuchs motor) or BH4016A2 the
drain plug (10) must not be removed.
(q) If the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) has an adjustment valve, make sure that
the valve is in the fully open position.
NOTE: Only the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND, RAT AGE10600A has an adjustment valve.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT IS STABLE AND CANNOT
MOVE DURING THE TEST. IF THE PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT MOVES, THERE IS A
RISK THAT:
- IT WILL TOUCH AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RAT
- BROKEN PARTS WILL CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(a) If you use the FLOW CONTROL TEST - RAT (AE89415Z) and the GROUND - CHECKOUT
UNIT, RAT (AGE11212) (refer to the Reason for Job statement, Paragraph 1., for more tool
data):
1 Connect the hydraulic hoses of the FLOW CONTROL TEST - RAT (AE89415Z) to the
ground connectors of the ground service panel (Blue hydraulic system).
NOTE: If the FLOW CONTROL TEST - RAT (AE89415Z) is not available, you can also use
these flow control test kits:
- HFK02
- Tronair 13-6600-3600
- Testfuchs PGRAT1
- BH4016A1.

F. Lamp Test on the RAT Control Panel
(1) On RAT control panel 3GE push and hold the "LAMP TEST" switch in the TEST position:
· The ACTUATOR PRESSURE warning lamp comes on (red).
· The INTERLOCK WARNING lamp comes on (amber).
· The RAT STOWED lamp comes on (green).
(2) Release the LAMP TEST switch, each lamp goes out.

CONTROL - RAT (HFK02) or the TEST - UNIT, RAT (13-6600-3600) or the TEST - EQUIPMENT,
RAT (PGRAT1) or the RAT TEST EQUIPMENT (BH4016A)
WARNING: KEEP ALL PERSONS AWAY FROM THE AREA WHEN YOU PRESSURIZE THE BLUE
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM. WHEN YOU PRESSURIZE THE BLUE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM,
THE RAT CAN TURN AT MORE THAN 5000 RPM.
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN
YOU DO THIS TASK.
(1) Obey the hydraulic safety procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-910-002) .
NOTE: Always monitor the transparent discharge hose and the fluid container. When the hydraulic
fluid flows from the RSIK through the discharge hose into the container, stop the test imme-
diately to prevent damage to the RAT gearbox. If the hydraulic fluid is there, the ground test
motor is damaged. The damage causes leakage in the direction of the RSIK. The hydraulic
fluid from the motor can cause damage to the RAT gearbox. At the beginning of the leakage,
the RSIK can move the fluid. If the leakage occurs, replace the ground test motor and exam-
ine the RAT gearbox for the damage that the hydraulic fluid caused.
NOTE: The operation of the Blue electric pump is necessary to pre-charge the Blue hydraulic system
accumulator for the spin-up and governing test.
(3) You must look at the temperature gage of the FLOW CONTROL TEST - RAT (AE89415Z) or the
TEST KIT, FLOW CONTROL - RAT (HFK02) or the TEST - UNIT, RAT (13-6600-3600) or the
TEST - EQUIPMENT, RAT (PGRAT1) or the RAT TEST EQUIPMENT (BH4016A) during the test.
The test values can be out of tolerance if the temperature increases to more than 60 deg.C (140.00
deg.F). If so, you must stop the test, let the temperature decrease and do the test again.

(c) Remove the nuts (9), the washers (8), the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) (7),
the adapter plate (6) and the screws (5).
(8) Do an inspection of the CHECK-MOTOR GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) (7) drive shaft and the
adjacent area:
(a) Make sure that there is no leakage.
(9) Install the drain plug (10), if removed during the installation of the CHECK-MOTOR
GROUND,RAT (AGE10600D) (7).
(10) Disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the ground connectors of the ground service panel of the Blue
hydraulic system.
(11) Remove the FLOW CONTROL TEST - RAT (AE89415Z) or the TEST - UNIT, RAT (13-6600-3600)
or the TEST - EQUIPMENT, RAT (PGRAT1) or the TEST KIT, FLOW CONTROL - RAT (HFK02)
or the RAT TEST EQUIPMENT (BH4016A) .
(12) Install the hydraulic caps on the ground connectors.

M. Inspection of the RAT after the Functional Test
(1) Inspection of the Indicator
(a) Examine the RAT and make sure that the differential pressure indicator is in the "in" position.
1 If the differential pressure indicator is popped out, replace the filter (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-
51-000-013) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-51-400-013) .
(2) Examine the RAT pump/gearbox splitline and the drain plug of the RAT gearbox for external leakage.
Make sure that the external leakage is not more than:
· 60 drops an hour when the RAT is in operation,
· 2 drops an hour when the RAT is not in operation.
NOTE: The given values are only for the RAT pump/gearbox splitline and the drain plug and not for
the hydraulic connections. If you are not sure of the source of the leaks, it is necessary to:
- Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system with 3000 psi
- Examine the hydraulic connections and the related components.
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) On overhead panel 50VU, push the LEAK MEASUREMENT VALVES/B (the OFF legend of the this
pushbutton switch is off).
(2) On overhead panel 40VU, push the P/BSW BLUE/ELEC PUMP (the OFF legend of the this
pushbutton switch is off).
(3) Retract the RAT (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-006) .
(4) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002)
(5) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002) .
