EXERCISE

 Write the words in blue (10) of the text and look for their definitions in English.

Primary: The first definition of primary in the dictionary is first in importance, grade, rank, etc.
Another definition of primary is position or time first, as in a series. Primary is also essential;
BASIC.
Ordinary: not special, different, or unusual in any way.
Independent: not controlled or ruled by anyone else.
Government: the group of people who officially control a country
Education: the process of teaching and learning in a school or college, or the knowledge that you
get from this.
Attend: To go to an event.
Believed: to think something, without being completely sure .
Motivated: to make someone enthusiastic about doing something.
Leader: a person in control of a group, country, or situation.
Decided: certain, obvious, or easy to notice.

describirla o explicarla. La idea principal generalmente se da pero no siempre al principio o al final
del párrafo

Cuando era niña, Kakenya Ntaiya era como la mayoría de las chicas de su aldea en Kenia. Cuando
era una adolescente, se esperaba que se casara y tuviera hijos. En cambio, Ntaiya convenció a sus
padres para que la dejaran terminar la escuela secundaria. Después de eso, fue a los Estados Unidos
para asistir a la universidad. Finalmente obtuvo un doctorado en educación. Cuando Antalya
regresó a su hogar en 2009, comenzó el internado Kakenya Center for Excellence. Ahora casi 280
niñas en su pequeño pueblo reciben educación primaria. La educación cambió la vida de Ntaiya, por
lo que espera que su experiencia inspire a otras chicas a alcanzar sus propias metas literarias.

A. What elementary school did you attend? Describe it.
Answer: I studied my elementary school at the San Miguel Arcangel School, This school was big,
it had a forest, fields and recreational classrooms for us students.
B. Which school subjects made you feel the most motivated? And Why?
Answer: The social course was the one that made me feel motivated since it made me an interesting
subject and with many ways to use it in everyday life.
C. What do you think about Kimani Maruge’s challenge?
Answer: I think that everything he lived was very difficult but he was very strong since he
managed to overcome all obstacles and always wanted to learn more since it is very important to get
out of ignorance and fight for education.
