SOP OF OPERATION AND CLEANING OF REFRIGERATOR

1.0       OBJECTIVE

To lay down a standard procedure for operation and cleaning of Refrigerator.

2.0       SCOPE

This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for the Refrigerator located in


Incubation room in Microbiological Section of Quality Control department.

3.0       RESPONSIBILITY

            Microbiologist shall be responsible to follow the procedure mention in


this SOP.

4.0       ACCOUNTABILITY

Department Head & QA Head shall be accountable for effective


implementation of this SOP.

6.0       PROCEDURE

6.1           Operating procedure

6.1.1        Connect the power plug to the main power socket and switch “ON”
the main power supply of

refrigerator.

6.1.2        Cooling will start in the Refrigerator.


6.1.3        Put the thermometer in the refrigerator compartment.

6.1.4        Set the thermostat control knob to normal position. Set the
temperature of refrigerator between 2-8°C.

6.1.5        Load the refrigerator with the items to be stored between 2-8°C.

6.1.6        In case the desired temperature is not achieved, increase cooling by


setting the thermostat to ‘MAX’

position.

6.1.7        Monitor the temperature once in a day in the daily temperature


monitoring record as per attachment-I.

6.2           General cleaning procedure    

6.2.1         Internal cleaning

6.2.1.1      Switch ‘OFF’ the mains of the refrigerator.

6.2.1.2      Disconnect the plug of the equipment.

6.2.1.3      Open the door of the refrigerator and transfer the material lying
inside the refrigerator and keep

aside at temperature 8-25o C before starting the cleaning activity

6.2.1.4      Remove the trays and clean the chamber and trays with clean duster
dipped in the disinfectant

solution or 70% IPA.

6.2.1.5      After cleaning of the Refrigerator, rearrange the trays and switch
“ON” the equipment and stabilize

the set temperature.

6.2.1.6      After achieving the set temperature shift all the material taken out
again inside the cleaned

Refrigerator
6.2.1.7      Record the cleaning of refrigerator as per attachment-II.

6.2.1.8      Cleaning Frequency: Once in a week.

6.2.2         External cleaning

6.2.2.1      Clean the external surface of refrigerator using a lint free cloth with
70% IPA every day.

6.2.2.2      Cleaning Frequency: Daily
