Activity No.1 - John Asher Hiwatig
1. Would you rather be an entrepreneur or a manager in a big corporation? Explain your answer.
I’d rather be an entrepreneur. Managing your own business is a bit challenging but when it
prosper, the return of investment is more profitable than working in a corporate job. As they say,
there are no employees getting rich, only businessmen.
2. Would you describe yourself primarily as a critical thinker, a creative thinker, or a strategic
thinker? Give specific examples that will you support your answer. Which of these thought
processes, do you think, is most effective in formulating entrepreneurial decisions?
I am more of a creative thinker. When in class, I enjoy subjects that are related to art than the
ones that need critical thinking like problem solving. In entrepreneurial process, I think it is a
combination of all thinking skills. Strategy is important to keep your business afloat especially
during the pandemic. And to create good strategy, critical thinking is important. Creative
thinking is also useful in coming up into creative ideas for marketing strategy.
3. What is your understanding of cognitive adaptability? Have there been instances in the past
that you have exhibited this making decisions?
Cognitive adaptability means entrepreneurs were able to change their decisions based on
what is feasible in a certain situation. We cannot always stick by the book but must be willing
to adapt to unexpected circumstances brought by different factors. In the family business that
we have, we used to sell Korean products, but since we find in no longer in demand, we have
resorted to selling grilled seafood and meat.
4. Being cognitively adaptable might lead an entrepreneur to constantly change his mind about
how to run his/her business. Would you consider this good or bad for the business?
For me, being cognitively adaptable is a good trait for entrepreneurs. It doesn’t just simply
mean that you constantly change your mind. Decisions made by being cognitively adaptable,
however, requires careful thinking of what’s best for the business given the present situation.
You know, we cannot always stick to previous decision made especially when the business is at
stake. We always need to be adaptable.
II. Think of an example of one existing product and service/s. Attach a photo and
make a table using the SWOT Analysis.
