TECHNOLOGY TOOLS FOR LEARNING

Education technology is the effective use of technology tools in learning as a


concept it concerns an arrat of tools such as media, machines and networking
hardware as well as considering underlying theoretical perspective for their
effective application

TRADITIONAL TECHNOLOGY TOOLS FOR LEARNING

1. Chalkboard is a reusable writing surface on which text or drawing are made


with chalk.
2. White board- as marker board or dry-erase board.
3. Charts- are graphic teaching aids depicting information in form of diagrams,
posters, pictures, maps and graphs.
4. Tape recorders- electronic gadget to record, reproduce, erase and re-
record sound on a magnetic tape.
5. Flannels- picture or materials with same material are used to stick. It helps
to build presetation in a sequence, piece by piece.

COMMON 21ST CENTURY TECHNOLOGY TOOLS FOR LEARNING

1. Blogs- web logs or blogs are interactive websites, often open in the public
that include Web links, photographs and audio and video elements.
2. E- Portfolio- it refers to students works that are generated, selected,
organized, stored and revised digitally.
3. Hypertext- these are electronic texts that provide multiple links and allowa
users to trace ideas in immediate and idiosyncratic directions.
4. Podcasts- these are digitalized audio files that are stored on the internet
and downloaded to listeners computers or most likely to MP3 players.
5. Web 2.0.- this referss to a second generation of web-based communities
that demonstrate the participatory literacies that students need for the 21 st
century.
6. Myspace- it is a social networking website taht offers an interactive user-
submitted network of friends, personal profiles, blogs,,groups, photos, music
and videos internationally.
7. Semaqntc web- it is an extension of the current Web that puts data into a
common format so that instaed of humans working with individuals search
engines to locate information, the search engines themselves feed into a
single mechanism that provides this searching on its own.
8. Webkinz- it is an internet simulation werein childeren learn pet care and
other skills.
9. Wiki- it refers to software that foster collaboration and communication
online. Wikis enable students to create, comment upon, and revise
collaboration projects.
10. Youtube- it is a popular website for video sharing where users can upload,
view, and share footage, including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos,
even student-produced videos.
11. Google docs- it allows student to collaborate with other people and the
document materials that need to be compiled, processed, transacted, and
analyzed.
12. Prezi- it allows individual to use pre-made, creative presentation
templates.
13. Social media platform- these are means to communicate and sahare
ideas among users.
14. Webquest page- it provides webquest on an array of topics across content
areas with a template for creating ones own.
15. Literacy web- it is an online portal that includes a large number of new
literacys resources for new literacies for teachers.
