The document describes the different components that make up the climate control system of a vehicle and how they work together.

The main components are the condenser, compressor, receiver/dryer, evaporator, and dash climate unit.

The condenser is a parallel flow-type heat exchanger that is cooled by ambient air from the engine fan and ram air to condense the refrigerant from a gas to a liquid.

Description
Condenser
This is a parallel flow-type condenser. It consists of two side tanks connected by flat tubes and fins
for heat transfer. The condenser is permanently mounted on brackets in front of the engine radiator.
It is cooled by ambient air drawn by the engine cooling fan and the ram air that flows through it.

Compressor
The compressor is mounted to the engine where it is driven by a pulley run off the crankshaft. The
compressor works as a pump in the system. It draws evaporated refrigerant from the evaporator and
forces it into the condenser.

Receiver/Dryer
The dryer absorbs any moisture and particles that might be found in the fluid. The receiver/dryer is
designed to ensure that no refrigerant vapor leaves the unit.
The refrigerant mainly arrives at the dryer in fluid form. The outlet goes through a pipe in the bottom
of the container, to prevent any gaseous refrigerant from passing the dryer and reaching the
expansion valve. As long as there is enough refrigerant in the system, no gas can reach the
expansion valve.

Evaporator
The evaporator is located inside the dash climate unit. The evaporator is the heat exchanger that
allows the heat of the cab air to be absorbed by the refrigerant. The evaporator is constructed of
stacked plates that are surrounded by fins. The heat of the cab air passing through the fins is
transferred to the fins and the plates. The refrigerant is metered into the evaporator through the
expansion valve and travels through the plates of the evaporator. As the evaporator collects heat
from the cab the heat is transferred to the refrigerant, which boils to a vapor.

Dash climate unit

The dash climate unit consists of actuators and stepper motors that regulate the flow of air into the
cab.
