SECURITY MANAGER

Department: Security Job Band: 5

At Sailing Club Signature Resort Phu Quoc, we want people who are friendly, welcoming and

Now that you play an integral role in our team, you are required to perform all the following
details:
JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the safety and security function within the resort.
These may include licensing as well as liaison with certain local authorities where regular contact
is required to ensure the resort is operating within local regulations. Strong public relations with
both the Local Security Bureau and Fire Department Section are essential to the operation of the
Resort. Security Team is not a Support Department, but a Guest Service Department. The
Security Manager will be required to conduct their duties in a courteous, safe and efficient
manner, in accordance with the resort’s policies and procedure, ensuring that a high level of
service is maintained at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALITY ASSURANCE:
 Develop and maintain departmental standard operation procedures (SOP)
 Get acquainted with the government, fire, and police agencies; security consultants and
security agency officers; resort legal counsels; professional associations and any counterparts
in nearby establishments.
 Responsible for the protection of resort guests, staff, assets (tangible and intangible), and other
resources by developing and maintaining an organization that is responsive to the current,
continuing, and immediately foreseeable security, safety, and health/hygiene requirements of
the resort.

 Responsible for the risk management program to anticipate, recognize, identify, plan and
reduce to manageable proportions all security, safety and health risks, threats and hazards to
recommend RM/GM proportionate countermeasures to minimize/eliminate risks. Ensure that
the resort operates strictly within legal and ethical parameters.
 Study the security and safety situation and recommends appropriate policies and procedures as
well as updating existing ones.
 Continually study and recommend upgrading of the resort security and safety systems.
 Record management to ensure systematic record keeping (e.g. maintenance records; work
orders; contractor registration, etc.)
 Anticipate and plan for various emergency situations: Review/adapt resort security policies
(fire, earthquakes, bomb threat, civil disorders, etc.)
 Define organization and function of the Crisis management team (CMT) and Emergency
response team (ERT); set-up a continuing training program and simulation exercises for the
members.
 Conduct regular safety system tests and practices fire drills; evacuation drills; bomb threat
drills, etc.
 Responsible for resort occupational safety to support the HR in developing and driving the
resort occupational safety program.
 Responsible for food safety and hygiene, to support the F&B department and implementation
of hygiene policy and procedures.
 Continuous monitoring of resort activities and developments; ensuring prompt responses to
abnormalities, suspicious situations and disorder.
 Access control; prevent unauthorized, unlawful or unwelcomed access into the resort or within
restricted areas within resort.
 Crime detection or prevention: Ensure adequate CCTV coverage of all critical areas; Panic
alarms, hold-up alarms, fire exit door alarms, etc. installed at appropriate and vulnerable
points.
 Ensure security intercept and challenge unidentified persons found in restricted areas (e.g.
people not wearing permits in the back of house.)
 Ensure ALL crime incidents/allegations are reported, investigated and documented in a timely
fashion.
 Resort keys security: develop/enforce an effective policy and procedures governing keys’
secure storage, movements and accountabilities, locks duplication, lockset replacement and
master key allocations, etc.
 Study loss events, establish possible patterns and trends (e.g. crime trends.)
 Deliver superior security service for special events and VIP visits (heads of state visits;
celebrity functions, etc.)

 Handle guest security and safety complaints in a timely fashion. Initiate immediate corrective
action to maintain guest satisfaction.

PROFIT & LOSS:


 Prepare monthly outlook/forecast reports.
 Help create the department’s annual budget and the setting of departmental goals. Monitor
budget and control labor costs and expenses.
 Prepare and manage a cost-effective budget with measurable targets for the Department within
the financial parameters set down by the resort budget. Develop systems that measure the cost-
effectiveness of the department

 Works with Human Resources on manpower planning and management needs
 Ensure all colleagues are well groomed and dressed in accordance to the resort regulations.
 Implement and maintain training systems to ensure that colleagues have the necessary
framework and skills to perform their job efficiently and effectively.
 Prepare work schedules and annual leave schedules within budget, business expectations and
guidelines of the appropriate industrial legislation.
 Manage staff training and development. Educate and train all team members in compliance
with federal, state and local laws and safety regulations.
 Ensure staff are properly trained and have the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
 Create a sense of equality, fairness to colleagues.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Environmental care by re-using, recycling or selling waste; conserves water and energy at all
available opportunities and maintain clean surroundings of all resort areas.
 Understand and adhere to relevant workplace health and safety standards, the resort’s security
and emergency policies and procedures.
 Be responsible in keeping our property safe and secure, to participate in any resort activity
related to Fire Life safety. 
 Safeguard all information relating to the resort, guests.
 Comply strictly to the resort codes of conduct, resort regulations.
 Serve as manager on duty (MOD) on request.
 May assist with other duties as assigned by management

JOB SPECIFICATION

Education:  High school or equivalent education preferred.


 First Aid Certificate.
 Fire Life & Safety Systems.
Experience:  6-8 years in resort of similar size
 Min 3 years in Assistant Security Manager position
Knowledge and Skills:  Strong supervisory & leadership skills
 Excellent communication and presentation skills
 Well-developed business acumen
 High level of integrity
 Able to delegate
 Strong project management skills
