ARTSTEP CONTENT

Kedah
Kedah known by its honorific Darul
Aman or "Abode of Safety" is a state of
Malaysia, located in the northwestern
part of Peninsular Malaysia bordering
Thailand. The state covers a total area
of over 9,000 km2, and it consists of
the mainland and the Langkawi
islands. The mainland has a relatively
flat terrain, which is used to grow rice,
while Langkawi is an archipelago, most
of which are uninhabited islands.

Jambangan yang terdiri daripada biji
padi melambangkan komoditi
pertanian utama negeri – beras. Bulan
sabit melambangkan Islam sementara
perisai melambangkan kekuasaan
pemerintah.
Alor Setar

1. Zahir Mosque

Masjid Zahir was also built in 1912,


making it the oldest and grandest
mosque in Malaysia. This same
mosque was also voted as the Top
10 most beautiful mosques in the
world. The building design consists
of five main parts that represent the
Five Pillars of Islam. From afar, you
might perceive that the dome is
black, but if you view it up close,
you will notice that it is actually dark
ruby red in colour.

The mosque was built upon the


tomb and grave of fallen Kedah
warrior that die during Siamese
invasion of Kedah. The design was
inspired by the vision of the late
Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal
Abidin II

2. Masjid Al-Bukhary

Masjid Albukhary is a mosque


located in Bandaraya Alor Setar,
Kedah Darul Aman, about three
kilometres from the town centre.
This mosque was built entirely by
Yayasan Albukhary. Tun Dr.
Mahathir Mohamad completed the
national census on January 15,
1999, and construction began in
Mac 2000. KDYMM Tuanku Sultan
Kedah used this mosque for the
first time on November 22, 2001, on
the sixth day of Ramadhan 1422H.

Terbaharu, Masjid Albukhary telah
membuka sebuah galeri yang
pertama seumpamanya di negeri
Jelapang Padi itu. Kerana ia sejajar
dengan pengisytiharannya sebagai
Masjid Pelancongan.
Masjid Albukhary merupakan salah
satu lokasi pelancongan di Kedah
setanding masjid pelancongan
terkemuka lain di negara ini.
Keistimewaan lain, reka bentuk
menara masjid yang berdasarkan
seni bina menara Masjid Nabawi di
Madinah dengan ketinggian 47.92
dari aras tanah.
3. Royal Museum

By visiting the Kedah Royal


Museum or locally known as the
Sultan Museum, you will be able to
see and learn how a Sultan lives
behind closed doors. In this place, it
houses 2,000 artifacts,
documentation and also
possessions of Sultan Abdul Halim
(former Sultan of Kedah) and his
wife. If you have always wanted to
know how the Sultan or King live
his life here in Malaysia, this is a
great place to start.

The Kedah royal family is the oldest


royal house in Malaysia. The
museum provides a glimpse of the
pomp, tradition and pageantry of
the royal life from its collection of
photos, paraphernalia Furniture and
items used by the Kedah royalty.

Ketika Perang Dunia Kedua,
tentera Jepun pernah menduduki
istana dan kemudiannya turut
dijadikan ibu pejabat beberapa
pertubuhan sebelum dibiar tanpa
pemerhatian. Pada tahun 1983,
istana ini dibaikpulih dan dijadikan
Muzium Diraja sempena dengan
perayaan menyambut Jubli Perak
pemerintahan KDYMM Tunku
Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam
Shah dan dirasmikan oleh baginda
pada 25 julai 1983.
Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra
diputerakan bersebelahan dengan
istana ini (Bangunan Pagoda) pada
8 Februari 1903 dan pernah
dibesarkan di istana ini semasa
ayahandanya, Almarhum Sultan
Abdul Hamid dan bondanya Mak
Che Manjalara bersemayam di sini
4. Paddy Museum

As Malaysian’s favourite crop, it is


only normal that a museum
dedicated to the rice plant is built.
Kedah Paddy Museum was built to
honor the past and tradition of rice
plant in Kedah. Spanning across
12,000 square metres, this huge
museum consists of three floors
housing many artifacts and
information. The exterior of the
museum is really unique with paddy
plant design decorating the roof of
the building.

Aras 1-berpeluang mengetahui
sejarah penanaman padi di Kedah,
meninjau koleksi variati - variati
padi dan melihat alatan-alatan
pesawahan tradisional seperti anak,
renggam, kapok, tenggiling dan
lain-lain
Aras 2-Aras ini mengandungi enam
galeri. Galeri-galeri ini memuatkan
lukisan-lukisan yang
menggambarkan aktiviti-aktiviti
pertanian bermula dari zaman
purba hingga ke zaman sekarang.
Aras 3-Pengunjung pastinya akan
terpegun melihat panorama
tanaman pada satu musim dalam
bentuk mural dan lanskap. Mural ini
mempunyai ketinggian 8 meter
serta 103 meter panjang dan
merupakan salah satu mural yang
terbesar dan tercantik di Malaysia.
Ruang pemerhatian diaras ini boleh
memuatkan 40 orang pada satu-
satu masa dan terletak diatas
platform berputar.
Jitra

1. Bukit Wang

Bukit Wang Recreational Forest


(Nature Reserve) is located in Jitra,
Kedah, about 40 kilometers (km)
from the town of Alor Star has
always been a preferred destination
for a weekend break. Remarkably,
this park has a relatively long
bathing area, which is about one
kilometer (km) and suitable for all

environmental conditions that are
still preserved. For outdoor
enthusiasts, they can do jungle

and pitcher plant. After a tiring fun
bathing, visitors can enjoy a variety
of food sold in the cafe near the
entrance .

dibina British pada 1913.
2. Tasik Darulaman

Tasik Darulaman was inspired by


the brilliant ideas of the former
Prime Minister; Tun Dr Mahathir
Mohammad in 1999 and was
inaugurated around July 2002. This
84 -acre park and lake became very
popular among the locals. The open
space and cool clear air make it the
perfect atmosphere to spend quality
time with the family. The water park
visited is suitable for recreational
purposes and provides various
activities such as Kayak, Paddle
Boat, Buggy Ride, Pony Ride and
Bicycle.

Tasik Darulaman ialah sebuah
pulau di Daerah Kubang Pasu,
Kedah, Malaysia yang terletak kira-
kira 1 kilometer dari pekan Bandar
Darulaman, Jitra dan bersebelahan
Darul Aman Golf Resort sangat
terkenal di kalangan penduduk
setempat untuk beriadah dan
bersiar-siar. Di antara tarikan
pengunjung ke sini ialah air pancut
setinggi 96 meter yang
dikategorikan sebagai yang ketiga
tertinggi di Asia.
3. Masjid Al Fateh

Tanjong Pauh Mosque is one of the


mosques found in the Kubang Pasu
district in general or in the vicinity of
Pekan Jitra in particular. The
existence of this mosque is a
symbol of the greatness of Islam as
the official religion in Malaysia and
is a symbol of the progress of Islam
which was established in this
district once upon a time.

The original structure is entirely


made of high quality wood
measuring approximately 20 x 30
square feet. The roof is in the
shape of the Limas Roof with a clay
brick roof which the original
structure is still preserved to this
day.

Kewujudan Masjid ini merupakan
lambang keagungan Islam sebagai
agama rasmi di Malaysia dan

kelihatan warna putih walupun di
simbah cat yang bewarna lain.
4. Gunung Keriang

Gunung Keriang (Mount Keriang) is


a 250 million year old lump of
mainly limestone rock which is said
to be in the shape of an elephant
and reaches a height of 218
meters. It is located about 8 km
north-west of Alor Setar close to the
Kedah Paddy Museum. It is
geologically unique and ten
different rocks are found here
including attractive calcite crystals
which are much sought after by
collectors and fung-shui believers.

Di kaki Gunung Keriang terdapat
deretan kedai yang menjual batu
kristal dan barang hiasan dari batu
Gunung Keriang. Selain daripda itu,
terdapat beberapa gua di kaki
gunung turut menjadi tumpuan
pencari batu kristal dan tahi kelawar
bagi dijadikan baja.
Apabila Kita mendaki gunung
keriang ini, mata kita dijamu dengan
pemandangan petak sawah padi
dan deretan rumah kampung selain
sayup kelihatan Gunung Mat
Chinchang di Langkawi.
Sungai Petani

1. Pantai Merdeka

Pantai Merdeka is a coastal


location in the Malaysian state of
Kedah which is a popular site for
picnics. It has the only sand beach
in mainland Kedah, and it is the
major attraction for beach goers
from all over northern Penang and
Kedah State.

Pantai merdeka berdekatan dengan
Gunung Jerai dan pecan Tanjung
Dawai yang bertentangan dengan
panatai merdeka,memang kita akan
terpegun melihat keindahan
tesergam depan mata.
Kita juga boleh menaiki bot ataupun
perahu nelayan dari pantai
merdeka ke tanjung dawai.

2. Lembah Bujang

The Lembah Bujang Archaeological


Museum is the only museum in
Malaysia which exhibits
archaeological collections that
serves as evidence of the existence
of a trade and Hindu/Buddhism
propagation center in Southeast
Asia from the 3rd. to the 12th
century AD.
The Bujang Valley is a sprawling
historical complex and has an area
of approximately 224 square
kilometres situated near Merbok,
Kedah, between Gunung Jerai in
the north and Muda River in the
south. It is the richest
archaeological area in Malaysia.

gunung Jerai kita dapat melihat air
terjun
Bukit Batu Pahat dan beberapa
tapak bersejarah di situ.

Baling

1. Air Terjun Lata Bayu

Lata Bayu is a well maintained


recreation park in the state of
Kedah. A few km outside Baling
there is a clearly signposted road,
leading to the falls. Lata Bayu is a
popular destination, and can be
crowded during weekends. But on
weekdays it is a nice and quiet
spot.

perghhh.. Air terjunnya terjaga elok
dan pelbagai kemudahan
disediakan di sekitarnya. Lokasi
tempat rekreasi ini terletak di

Pekan Baling dan 90 km dari
Bandar Alor Setar.
Apa yang uniknya hutan lipur ini
adalah terdapatnya air terjun yang
menarik dengan ketinggian 20
meter dan membentuk kolam
semulajadi yang dikenali sebagai
Lubok Lesung. Wahh.. uniknya!
Seperti tempat rekreasi yang
lainkemudahan-kemudahan asas
disediakan untuk para pengunjung
melakukan aktiviti di sini. Antaranya
ialah seperti mandi-mandi,
berkelah, berkhemah dan ‘jungle
trekking’.
2. Ulu Legong

The Ulong Legong Hot Spring is


more to a recreational park. The
Ulong Legong Hot Spring is a place
for relaxation and therapeutic
purpose for all people with ailments.
With 7 units of natural hotspring
swimming pool with different
temperatures from a warm water
pool, to a hot water pool and the
hottest are all up for your pick.
Apart from the relaxation time, one
can go for jungle trekking and visit
the waterfalls in the Ulu Muda
Forest Reserve nearby.

3. Gunung Baling

Gunung Baling is a mountain in


Kedah, Malaysia standing at 546
meters tall. The summit offer
beautiful 360 degree view of it
surrounding which are two very
intense hikes to the twin bison-
shaped mountain range ending with
the two peaks of Gunung Baling
and Gunung Pulai.

views that straddle all the way to
Penang island to the west, and to
Thailand to the east, is the most
popular activity in town.

‘panas’ para hikers dan pendaki di
negara kita. Terletak di Mukim
Pulai, Daerah Baling, Kedah laluan
untuk sampai ke puncak setinggi
546 meter dari aras laut ini boleh
dibahagikan kepada 3 bahagian.
Sejak tersebarnya kecantikan dan
keindahan Gunung Baling, boleh
dikatakan setiap hari pasti ada
pendaki yang akan kesana dan
pada hujung minggu, jumlah ini
boleh mencecah sehingga lebih
500 orang.
4. Gua Sireh

Gua Sireh is a dry cave located in


Baling district of Kedah. However,
like any other caves, there are
some parts where it'll be slippery,
especially if you visit during the
rainy season. Rumor says Gua
Sireh was once submerged
underwater due to the amount of
hermit crab-like shells at the
entrance of the caves. After walking
for about 100m, you will be greeted
by marvelous cave system. The
cave system was spectacular
beyond words.

tumpuan penduduk setempat sejak
awal 1960-an untuk mencari najis
kelawar bertukar wajah menjadi
lokasi pelancongan baharu di
Baling, Kedah. Jika sebelum ini
Gua Sireh yang terletak di kaki
Bukit Dalam Wang, menjadi tempat
mencari rezeki penduduk melalui
najis kelawar yang dijadikan baja,
kini gua berkenaan menjana rezeki
melalui pelancongan.
Berkeluasan mencecah 192 meter
lebar dan ketinggian antara 60
hingga 80 meter, Gua Sireh boleh
dianggap antara gua paling luas di
negara ini.

Sejak dibuka gua berkenaan telah


menerima lebih 3,000 pengunjung
yang bukan sahaja dalam kalangan
warga tempatan malah pelancong
luar negara seperti Jepun dan
Korea Selatan.

Langkawi

1. Pulau Payar

If you're looking for the most scenic


spot in Langkawi, you won't have to
look too far - Pulau Payar marine
park is located an hour away via
speedboat from the main Langkawi
island in Kedah - offers protection
for its diverse marine life.

Experience diving or snorkeling in


crystal clear waters famous for its
corals. The only place off
Malaysia's west coast with exotic
coral reefs and marine life similar to
that of the Indian ocean. You can
see colourful coral beautifully
protected, and other exotic marine
species like the stonefish, moray
eels, parrotfish, barracudas, clown
fish, baby reef sharks, and more.

There are several sandy beaches


on Payar island for picnics as well
as hiking trails for those who wish
to explore the island. Just off the
beach, one can indulge in the
experience of feeding baby sharks.
Facilities include gazebos, picnic
tables, barbecue pits and restrooms
at selected areas. There is also a
Visitors' Centre that provides
information about the marine park.

manda di tepi pantai atau ambil
pakej layan snorkeling dan scuba
diving berkumpulan.
Tempat ini best sebab anda boleh
mandi di samping beribu-ribu ikan.
Kalau biasanya nampak kat TV, kali
ni dah boleh rasa sendiri seronoknya
mandi dengan ikan liar.
Kalau nasib anda baik, anda
mungkin dapat tengok ikan lumba-
lumba, ikan paus dan ikan yu paus.
Kata orang, selalunya ikan ini ada
dalam musim panas (Oktober sampai
Februari).
2. Temurun Waterfall

Temurun Waterfall is located at the


Mat Cincang Nature Park in the
Datai Bay area of Malaysia.
Temurun Waterfall is a three tier
Waterfall which has a cumulative
drop of the falls of about 200
meters. It is the tallest waterfall in
Langkawi.

The water stream from this waterfall


streams down the northern slope of
Mount Mat Cincang. Rocks of the
Temurun Waterfall comprise mainly
of the sandstone & shale which are
all over 500 million years old.

You will find many butterflies, birds


and small animals like squirrels
along the way. Often the locals
come to this place for picnics. Once
you reach the uppermost tier, that is
where you get your true reward.
You can see the waterfall coming
down the steep rocky slope of the
mountain and forming a beautiful
natural pool at the base with clean
and clear water. The pool is shallow
but deep enough for a bath or a
swim.

Air Terjun Temurun merupakan air
terjun tiga tingkat yang terletak di
kawasan Teluk Datai. Jika anda
tinggal di sekitar Cenang, anda
pasti memerlukan sekurang-
kurangnya motosikal untuk ke air
terjun ini tetapi jangan risau kerana
pemandangan di sepanjang jalan
juga begitu menyenangkan.
Air Terjun Temurun adalah air
terjun tertinggi di Langkawi dan
kejatuhan kumulatif air terjun
adalah kira-kira 200 meter. Anda
sudah boleh menyaksikan air terjun
dari tingkat pertama tetapi
pemandangan lebih baik apabila
anda mendaki ke tingkat atas.
3. Pular Rebak

Surrounded by lush forests on a


private island. Located just off the
coast of one of the many beautiful
beaches is the untouched Rebak
Island. It is an ideal place to visit if
you want a scheduled spot and a
beach all to yourself. The beaches
here are exclusive and offer white
sandy sand looking out to the
crystal blue sea.

Rebak Island is also teeming with


diverse wildlife and Immerse in
adrenaline-fuelled experiences
such as jungle treks, sunset
cruises, or cycling.

4. Kilim GeoForest Park 

At the Kilim Karst Geoforest Park,


visitors can watch the magnificent
eagles up-close in their natural
habitat. Kilim Karst Geoforest Park
is developed on the oldest
limestone of Malaysia. Created
almost 500 million years ago, much
of the Kilim’s rock is made up of the
Setul Formation. These natural rock
formations give it a spectacular
landscape of nearly vertical karstic
hills with varying shapes and sizes.

Touring the Kilim Geoforest


National Park by boat, visitors will
be taken through the incredible
mangrove forests along the narrow
valleys of the limestone rock
formations. The Kilim Trail, as it is
called, features wildlife such as
mud crabs, monkeys and monitor
lizards. Fossils can also be found in
Kilim’s rocks, particularly at Pulau
Anak Tikus (Fossil Island).

The Kilim Karst Geoforest Park


offers a moderately easy trail, and
visitors only need to sit tight on a
speedboat most of the way. Life
jackets are provided for the boat
ride and the boat drivers will slow
down if you ask them to. If you
prefer to explore the smaller crooks
and crannies of the mangrove
forest, feel free to hire a kayak and
paddle at your own pace. Make
sure you slather on that sunscreen
if you don’t wish to get a sunburn!

5. Tanjung Rhu 

If you are looking for a secluded


beach away from the crowd that
offers breathtaking view of the
emerald blue water and islands at a
distance, then Tanjung Rhu is the
beach to go. Tanjung Rhu beach
has crystal clear and clean water
with powdered sand that runs along
its coastline.

The beach is located at the north


eastern edge of Langkawi at a
remote corner. The beach remains
non-polluted and restful throughout
the year with pleasant winds
blowing from the sea. The view of
sunset from Tanjung Rhu beach is
simply awesome! Free of crowd,
quite secluded and nobody to
disturb you as well. It does house a
few local stalls that serve
Langkawi’s favourite - mee gulung
but nothing more that may obstruct
its warm ambience. Adding to the
exclusivity are luxury hotels that
surround this beach in huge
numbers.

yang diternak dalam sangkar ikan.
