- Besides being easy to learn, the sport also fits well in the Philippines because of its strategic and
dynamic nature, making the game rewarding for both players and spectators. Filipinos, who love
being entertained, enjoy being kept on the edge of their seats by the game’s unpredictable twists.
Basketball reflects the Filipino culture of hard work and determination. It’s the happy feeling one gets
when they play with their friends. It brings people together and that’s what makes Filipinos love
basketball.
- The values that they gained by playing basketball is that they learn the Value of Teamwork, the
Inevitability of Failure, Grabbing every opportunity, hard work and Determination, and Learning more
life lessons by having fun. In addition, Basketball is one of the few big sports that involve the whole
body, making it ideal for cardio exercises, like tennis. Patience is a virtue, as the saying goes, and
basketball embodies this saying despite it being a physically active sport with a lot of fast movement.
Aiming for the right shot, knowing when to pass, and mastering the ins and outs of the game all

Center: The center is the tallest player on each team, playing near the basket. On offense, the
center tries to score on close shots and rebound.
Power Forward: The power forward does many of the things a center does, playing near the
basket while rebounding and defending taller players.
Small Forward: The small forward plays against small and large players. They roam all over on
the court. Small forwards can score from long shots and close ones.
Point Guard: The point guard runs the offense and usually is the team’s best dribbler and passer.
The point guard defends the opponent’s point guard and tries to steal the ball.
