 Qualified Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Ahmadabad (Gujarat University) with total 15
years of experience in the area of Line pipe inspection (HSAW, LSAW, ERW) and their coatings as well
as in production and operation of Line Pipes (HSAW).

CORE COMPETENCIES

HSAW-LSAW, HFERW LINE PIPE INSPECTION


 Perform Inspection & monitoring of process and witness requirements at various stages as per
approved Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
 Review of documents- purchase order, inspection and test plan, work instructions ( Production and
NDT), manufacturing procedure specifications , material test certificates, WPS and PQR, Welders
operator qualification reports, NDE procedures, NDE personnel qualification reports, Calibration
certificates for test equipments, Hydrostatic testing procedure, Procedure for handling, storage and
transportation of bare pipe.
 Material Inspection-Examine mill certificates for compliances with specifications and review includes
Certificate number, Heat no, Chemical composition, Mechanical properties, Visual inspection for
surface finish and dimensional compliance with specification, welding consumable details.
 Inspection during pipe manufacturing-Manufacturing carried out HSAW-LSAW pipes as per
approved procedure and inspection test plan. Visually inspect to ensure that joint geometry, fit up
method, Joint preparation and preheat are properly carried out. Visually check the finished weld for
correct profile and material identities for parent material and welding consumables are correctly
reported. Manufacturing carried out ERW pipes as per approved procedure and inspection test plan.
Monitoring of Welding parameter, Seam normalizing parameter carried out. Flattening test and
Reverse bend test performing as per ITP.
 Inspection of Hydrostatic testing of pipe-Witness Hydro testing of pipes in accordance with the
code requirements ensuring that minimum pressure hold times and test pressures applied to each
pipe.
 Inspection of NDE – Check and witness of calibration of ultrasonic test equipments at the prescribed
intervals. Reviews of radiography films for pipe both end welding and repair weld as per prescribed
standard.Perticular attention is paid to examination of repaired areas.
 Visual and Dimensional inspection – Profile of weldment width, Reinforcement
height,Irrigularities,Undercut,Overlap,Porosity and spatter, slag inclusion and cracks,laminations,dents
and scrapes.
 Inspection for pipe Marking- Check and ensure that the full identification mark in accordance with
the code requirements for the particular pipe sizes.
 Release note – Issue the pipe release note when pipe have been finally accepted.
 Inspection at packing, marking and shipping – verified the packing materials confirm to
specification and accepted practice for the mode of transport. Verify protection against humidity,
abration, distortion and other damages. Verify shipping marks and handling marks.
 Documentation – all quality documents required by the code are reviewed for completeness and
endorsed as necessary.

 Perform Inspection & monitoring of process and Random witness requirements at various stages as
per approved inspection and testing plan (ITP).
 Inspection Review, Testing of Coating Raw Materials & Inspection of Storage area for of– Fusion Bond
Epoxy, Adhesive, Polyethylene, Chromic Acid, Phosphoric Acid & Grits.
 Inspection and review of Raw material testing for Epoxy Powder-Gel time, Cure time, Moisture
content, Thermal characteristics (Tg1, Tg2, and ∆H). Adhesive-Melt flow rate, Specific gravity, Vicat
softening point. Polyethylene-Melt flow rate, Specific gravity, Vicat softening point, Moisture content
& Oxidation induction time. Abrasive Grit-Vial Test. Storage of Raw Material.
 Review the Calibration of measuring and testing instrument with valid calibration certificates.
 Visual Inspection at inlet stage received bare pipes surface appearance and ambient conditions.
 Monitoring Pre-heating Temperature of Pipes and recording of ambient conditions.
 Monitoring of pipes in abrasive blasting stages. Degree of Cleanliness, Surface roughness profile,
Degree of dust, Elapsed time after blasting to commencement of the pre coating, Salt contamination test
 Inspection of Chemical Pre-treatment i.e. Phosphoric acid treatments followed by DI water wash, DI-
Water testing, Chromate application, Phosphoric solution strength and Chromate solution strength
 Monitoring of Pre-heating Temperature of Pipes & coating material like Adhesive and Polyethylene film
temperature during coating process.
 Online inspection of semi-coated pipe layer of fusion bonded epoxy, Adhesive and Polyethylene by
calibrated measuring instrument as per ITP.
 Inspection of coated pipe total thickness (Weld and Body) by calibrated thickness gauge.
 Pipe Impact test and holiday test of coated pipes as per approved ITP.
 Inspection of cutback length of coated pipes.
 Off line inspection of test samples of coated pipes – indentation, peel test, % elongation at break,
cathodic disbondment, residual magnetism, repaired pipes.
 Visual inspection of Coated Pipes, Thickness of Coated Epoxy, Adhesive & Polyethylene.
 Make Final Authentication of accepted, repaired and rejected pipes in pipe inspection data sheet
report.
 Make the DQSR (Daily Quality Surveillance Report).
Internal pipe coating inspection
 Perform Inspection & monitoring of process and Random witness requirements at various stages as
per approved inspection and testing plan (ITP).
 Review of raw material test certificates.
 Witness of Incoming raw material testing (Density, Non-volatile content (mass), Pigment dispersion,
Viscosity as per ITP.
 Review the Calibration of measuring and testing instrument with valid calibration certificates.
 Visual Inspection at inlet stage received bare pipes surface appearance and ambient conditions.
 Monitoring of pipes in abrasive blasting stages. Degree of Cleanliness, Surface roughness profile,
Degree of dust, Elapsed time after blasting to commencement of the pre coating, Salt contamination test
 Inspection at application of coating –viscosity of paint and wet film thickness.
 Inspection of off-line testing-Adhesion test (cross cut method), Buchholz hardness, bend test, Cure test,
Porosity test.
 Offline inspection-Visual inspection of Coated Pipes, Dry film Thickness of Coated pipe,
 Inspection of cutback length of coated pipes.
 Make Final Authentication of accepted, repaired and rejected pipes in pipe inspection data sheet
report.
 Make the FIR (Field inspection reports).
