3. The dim flame
When the flame of her life was going to dim
No one of us was there to say goodbye.
It reflects how painful our entire lives have been.
That we won't be able to see her when she dies
Death is sure for every human being.
But how did her strange death come to pass?
Her loving relatives were far from her.
And they are unable to contact the previous visit.
We should believe in the heavenly Lord.
Who made our vast and great human land?
Sure, she has gained a position in the grave.
So, we should not worry; Allah is known.

The author wept very much at the Kazipet graveyard.
The author, upon his return from his service in a foreign
country, visited Kazipet after a gap of many years and visited
the graves of his grandfather and grandmother at Kazipet
recently in the month of May 2014.
He went to his grandfather's grave, which is under a large
Neem tree, and its shed is spread across large areas of the
graveyard, and my grandmother's grave is next to his. Both
graves are well maintained, so they are available in good
condition.
Because both graves are located beneath a large old Neem
tree, there is an abundance of shade as well as a peaceful
atmosphere and comfort. As a result of the coolness of the
branches of the Neem tree that dominates the graveyard, an
atmosphere of peace and comfort prevails there. For this reason,
an atmosphere of coolness and peace is there, and due to this
reason, there will be a thought in the mind of the author that
both of them are living in a peaceful condition.
However, the author wept too much there because his
grandfather, who was administrator of the shrine of Kazipet for
many years, and his grandmother, who lived in Kazipet village
for many years and did many endeavours there and helped many
needy women and children there, are now both buried in the
graveyard of the Kazipet shrine.
Nobody from their lineage is there to visit them, but many
unknown visitors are visiting their graves there, and the author
20
has personally seen many flowers on the graves that were placed
by those unknown persons.
The connection of the author’s family members with Kazipet
My grandfather, Sheikh Dadan, was drawn to the teachings of
the Sufi Center at Kazipet during the reign of Hazrat Syed Shah
Sarwar Biabani Radi Allahu Anhu, the successor and son of the
great Sufi master Hazrat Syed Shah Afzal Biabani Radi Allahu
Anhu. When my grandfather became his disciple and
immediately left, he did the following:
He left his superior job in the police department. 2. He left his
native place of Medak. 3. He left his big house in Medak.
Due to the kindness and favour of Hazrat Syed Shah Ghulam
Biabani, Radi Allahu Anhu, my granddad got the job of estate
administrator of Dargah Sharif and a plot of land 1000 yards
from the centre of Kazipet village. On this plot, my granddad
had constructed a big house (Gulshan Manzil) on 500 yards and
a big garden on 500 yards.

been a good response from its readers in large numbers on so

I will pray for unknown visitors to the graves of my lineage.

Biography of Hazrat Bawa Haji Malang Kalyan
Mausoleum of Hazrat Bawa Haji Malang
39
Preface
This book, "Swane-Umri Bawa Haji Malang," is quite old and
was originally published in Urdu language by Munshi
Mohammed Abbas before being translated into English for the
first time by me.He published this book in Urdu; no publication
date is given. Please note that it is a biography of the book
"Swane-Umri Bawa Haji Malang" in Urdu. It is a very hard task
as Hazrat Haji Malang was not only a great pious personality of
his time in the area of the western coast of India, but he was also
a great preacher of his time. In short, he was the Western coast
of India's Qu'tub (the highest cadre in the spiritual pivot at
axis). For a long time, he was engaged in religious discourses,
sermons, and spiritual training of the people, and he also did
many great endeavours for the preaching and propagation work
of Islam in the areas of western India and around this region,
and there was no such personality during his time.
The positive information and great details about this Sufi saint
who arrived on the western coast of India from Yemen will
bring the readers' interest in reading this book.
42
This book has been edited and formatted in the style of the great
book "Muslim Saints and Mystics" in its English version
(Tadhkirtal Auliya by Farid al-Din Attar), which is well-known
in the Western world among English-speaking people. So, for
this reason, there will be some small differences in it when
compared with the Urdu books and its literature. The aim of this
book is to present it in the Western world, where there is great
demand for and search for the books of Sufism and the
biographies of holy saints who lived and spent their entire lives
for the preaching and propagation of Islamic religion in all
corners of the world, as per the tradition and practice of Allah’s
last prophet.
This is a small book in which a biography of Hazrat Baba Haji
Malang is added, and in this book, there are some great
achievements of this great Sheikh from Kalyan and western
India, which are not yet known to the general public, and other
persons are published in a very interesting style, so, for this
reason, the readers will find great interest and attention in this
matter.
If the readers begin reading this book's first chapter and do not
stop until they reach its final chapter, they will learn about some
interesting events as well as other great miracles and endeavours
of the holy saint, and this holy saint, who passed away from the
world more than 750-800 years ago, is also mentioned.
History: In the Thane district of the State of Maharashtra, a king
by the name of "Nal Raja" ruled. The demons' atrocities against
the common people and the havoc they wreaked in his state had
reached unbearable proportions. The cry of the oppressed had
reached God, and God ordered Baba Malang to pay a visit to the
43
place where these crimes against the society are committed and
to ensure the safety and well-being of the common man by
eliminating these demons.
Malanggad (also called Baba Haji Malanggad or Malang Gad)
is a hill fort located in the Matheran Hill Range, Raigad District,
Maharashtra. The fort is located at about 789 metres above sea
level.
Baba Malang and his followers reached the small village called
Brahman Wadi near this mountain. On reaching the village, he
felt very thirsty and asked for water from a house belonging to
the Brahman Ketkar family. The Brahman, realising that Baba
Malang and his followers were tired, arranged for a place to rest
and offered them milk instead of water. This holy act of the
Brahman was duly appreciated by Baba, and he blessed him. He
left the Brahman to complete the work ordered by God as soon
as possible.
They found a small and cleaner place where Bakhtawar wanted
to put it, so Baba Malang blessed him and said that "during
Kalyug, this place will be known as "First Step" and will be
treated as sacrosanct."
According to legend, the King and Queen were turned to stone,
and the believing public still stones them today.A climb to the
mountain includes being carried by a rope across two peaks for
Rs. 20.00. After this, you carry on climbing and try to stone the
peaks, and it is believed that if your stone hits one of the peaks,
then your wish will be granted as long as you do not wish for the
throne of Delhi.
Current usage
44
There are many shacks on the way to Pirmachi. Buses and auto-
rickshaws ply from the shrine to Kalyan till quite late, though it
is best to inquire about the last bus back. In 2007, the
Government of Maharashtra awarded a contract to the Supreme-
Suyog-Yashita consortium to build a funicular railway to the
Malanggad plateau from Malangwadi, towards Kalyan. The
Forest Department permit took four years to obtain, and the
work has now begun. The Malanggad Funicular Railway will be
more than 1 km in length and gain 320 metres in height. It will
be able to carry 1,000 passengers up and down the hill every
hour.
On the eastern side of this mountain, trekking is good. It takes
an hour to get from the base village to Pir Machi, and another
half hour to get to Sone Machi. However, the climb to Balekilla
is very tough and risky. A local villager used to provide escort
for the Balekilla climb. However, only expert climbers with the
proper equipment and ropes should dare to climb the Balekilla.
Hadrat Baba Malang’s biography, as per an Islamic Urdu book,
was published in Mumbai by Munshi Mohammed Abbas.
45
Upon seeing the darkness, the king began crying very loudly.
So the place of the grave of the demon, which was suffering
badly,
There were many cries for help in dealing with the huge
problem there.
There was such a risk whether or not the day of judgement
arrived.
It has abruptly turned off the light of life, and the cause is
unknown.
So which enemy secretly attacked us in this matter?
In such worry, the beat of the morning drum started.
So at that time, there was the prayer call on the huge mountain.
Due to the prayer call, the ears were harmed and death was near.
The mountain began shaking and falling, and it began to
tremble.
When the canon of the slogan "God heard" was fired,
As a result, all malice people who fell to the earth by the mouth
When he has finished the morning prayer of Fajar on the
hillside,
At that time, the mountain was like water, and the stones were
like wax.
In his company, there were three witnesses to the truth.
Who were as varied as the truth of the river of God's unity?
Their names were Mir Bakhtiar and his uncle, who were
available there.
Who was well-known in the country for his saintliness?
As the first destination on the hill, one of them was martyred.
Then the second knower of the secret, who has also left the
world,
The third person killed on the path of truth on a hill
The three friends were buried there, in the graves on the hillside.

Did not know how an arrow was reaching and doing harm.
As a result, I see the world in the worst condition of my life.
"Oh, daughter of good nature, don't worry," he laughed.
Now it is difficult for you to remove your love from your heart.
By the grace of Allah, you have become like my own daughter.
Recite the phrase of Islam and be away from the light of
infidelity.
Due to this reason for the pain, your heart has become like wax.
Whatever your position, you gained much respect and
Due to his preaching, there was a good effect on the princess.
Her pain had been relieved by the removal of the infidelity.
She discovered the fruit of true faith in the defective.
By lowering her neck, she said, "Oh, the great King of helpers."
You did an excellent job of healing my broken heart.
Why are the victorious people concerned about the defeated?
I'm willing to give up my life for you, so make me your slave
girl.
Include me in the circle of Muslims who follow Islamic law.
The darkness of infidelity and betrayal was no longer in her
way.
In the head was the love of truth, and in the eyes was the
oneness of God.
Now I have the identity of Allah the Merciful in my life.
I was in darkness and searching for the righteous path of Islam.
He said, "Oh, my dear daughter, may Allah accept you soon."
You have been admitted to the holy heavenly hours as a result of
your deed.
With you, Mustafa, Murtuza, and Bibi Fatima, and all
On your grave will be found the grace of the all-powerful
angels.
In short, when he asked her to recite a phrase of faith,
51
There was the finished king of his time and infidel color.
Like a bird, he has flown away, and the great king has met his
end.
The impression of the Islamic preacher was well known there.
There was an impression of Islam on the mountain and in the
deserts.
Now only the little light toy girl remained with him.
And by his side, her grave was established there on the hillside.
Oh, Shah Malang Come on, help us out in this time of crisis.
As the enemies are ready and fighting with us, this is the time to
kill.
There is no peace with us now, only war among us.
We are without honour, poor, and have destroyed much of the
place.
We care nothing about the glory and dignity of Islamic law.
Something is on my heart and tongue, but I haven't found
sincerity.
Everyone is a pure person of the world in the race of religion.
As a result, we are defeated and face disrespect everywhere.
Whom we believe is among the group and is our adversary
In appearance, one is our friend, but he is our real great enemy.
We were proud of such an Islamic faith, but now we do not have

The daggers are sharp, but there is no unity in such hard work.
Oh, my master, come out of your room and inspect our efforts.
And see the condition of your slaves with care, and help us all.
are daggers on the throats, so enmity can be found anywhere.
Friends' stomachs, as well as their feet and hands, are on
display.
For the sake of the Prophet and Allah, solve our problem soon.

landmarks of Mumbai.

Background
The Haji Ali Dargah was constructed in 1431 in memory of a
wealthy Muslim merchant, Sayyed Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari,
who gave up all his worldly possessions before making a
pilgrimage to Mecca. Hailing from Bukhara, in present-
day Uzbekistan, Bukhari travelled around the world in the early
to mid-15th century and eventually settled in present-day
Mumbai.
According to legend, the saint once saw a poor woman crying on
the road while holding an empty vessel. He asked her what the
problem was, and she sobbed that her husband would thrash her
as she stumbled and accidentally spilled the oil she was
carrying. He asked her to take him to the spot where she spilled
the oil. There, he jabbed a finger into the soil, and the oil gushed
out. The overjoyed woman filled up the vessel and went home.
Later, Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari had a recurring and disturbing
dream that he had injured Earth with his act. Full of remorse and
grief from that day on, he became very serious and was not
keeping well. Then, with the permission of his mother, he
travelled to India with his brother and finally reached the shores
of Mumbai, near Worli or at some place opposite the present
tomb. His brother went back to their native place. Pir Haji Ali
Shah Bukhari sent a letter with him to their mother, informing
her that he was in good health and that he had decided to reside
at that place permanently for the spread of Islam and that she
should forgive him.
Till his death, he kept spreading knowledge about Islam to the
people, and his devotees would regularly visit him. Before his
death, he advised his followers that instead of burying him in a
proper place or graveyard, they should throw his shroud (called
60
"kafan") into the sea and let it be buried by the people who find
it.
His wish was obeyed by his followers. That is why the Dargah
Sharief is built at the very site where his shroud came to rest in
the middle of the sea, where it perched on a small mound of
rocks rising above the sea. The tomb and Dargah Sharief were
built in the years to come.
On Thursdays and Fridays, the shrine is visited by an enormous
number of pilgrims. Irrespective of faith and religion, people
visit the dargah to get the blessings of the legendary saint.
Sometimes, especially on Fridays, various Sufi musicians
perform a form of devotional music called Qawwali at the
dargah.
Structure as for the Mahalaxmi region.
The entrance to the Dargah.
The Dargah is built on a tiny islet located 500 metres from the
coast, in the middle of Worli Bay [6], in the vicinity of Worli.
The edifice is a brilliant specimen of the Indo-Islamic style of
architecture. The islet is linked to the city precinct
of Mahalakshmi by a narrow causeway, which is nearly a
kilometre (0.62 miles) long.
The accessibility of the dargah is very much dependent on the
tides. Because the causeway is not surrounded by railings, it
becomes inaccessible during high tide [citation
needed].Therefore, the dargah is accessible only during low tide.
This walk on the causeway, with the sea on both sides, is one of
the highlights of a trip to the shrine.

63
Architecture
The Haji Ali Dargah is made of "Makrana" marble, the same
whitewashed marble that Emperor Shah Jahan used to build the
Taj Mahal. The Haji Ali Dargah houses two important
monuments: the tomb of Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari and a
mosque. The architecture of this monument reflects the styles
and patterns of Mughal and Indo-Islamic architecture. The Haji
Ali Dargah occupies 4,500 square metres of space and is 85 feet
tall. A marble courtyard with the central shrine and the main
mosque, brocaded with a red and green sheet, are the first
structures you see while entering the Dargah complex. Artistic
marble pillars, mirror work with kaleidoscopic patterns, and
minarets sentinel the shrine in the center, making the monument
a grand sight for all. The Haji Ali Dargah is a 400-year-old
structure and is corroding in various places. With permission
from the Central Government, the Dargah Trust is now trying to
source the Makrana marble to rebuild the structure in various
places.
What to Do
Apart from visiting the Dargah, offering prayers, and seeking
the blessings of the saint, there are various other things to do in
64
and around the Dargah. Local stalls outside the complex of the
Haji Ali Dargah will give you the opportunity to indulge in
some delicious local cuisine and local specialties such as kebabs,
chaat, ice cream, Mughlai Biryani, Hyderabadi fast food, and
even American fast food. Apart from food, there are markets
located close by if you are an avid shopper—the best places
would be Crawford Market and Fashion Street. If you enjoy
serenity and happen to be a nature lover, you can decide to
unwind at the beach at Mahim Bay.
Nearby Places
The Haji Ali Dargah is located on Lala Lajpat Rai Marg in south
Mumbai. Some of the most prestigious landmarks are situated
close to the Haji Ali Dargah. The Mahalakshmi Race Course
Stadium is located 11 km from the Haji Ali Dargah, while the
Worli Sea Link lies at a distance of 6 km. The sea link will help
you get to Worli and Bandra, both of which are located close by.
By Rail
Rail networks connect the Haji Ali area well. One needs to either
get off at Mahalakshmi Station, Mumbai Central Station, or
Byculla Station to get to the Haji Ali Dargah. Once you
disembark at the station, local transport such as B.E.S.T. buses,
auto-rickshaws, and even taxis will help you reach your
destination.

There have been several saints who have travelled from far and
wide to India, spreading the word of Islam, like Khwaja Gareeb
Nawaz (R.A.) and many other saints who migrated to India from
the Arab countries and Persia. They came as and when informed
by their own intuition or will, or as per the instructions of
Prophet Mohamed (S.A.W.S., Peace Be Upon Him), as
envisioned in their dreams, or by Ilm (Wisdom of Faith), i.e., as
pointed out by spiritual power given to them by Allah (S.W.T.).

However, after that, the saint was troubled by
dreams of having wounded the
