Sauted eggplant is one of Indonesian people's favorite dishes. Here are the steps on how to make it.
You need:
2 medium eggplants
2 tbs vegetable oil
3 tbs sweet soy sauce (optional)
½ medium onion, sliced
1 clove garlic
1 tsp shrimp paste
Salt and pepper to taste
How to make:
1. Wash the eggplants and cut them in 12 inch cubes or slice in strips 2 inches wide.
3. Add the eggplant slices, stir and cover the pan. Simmer for about 10 minutes.

1. Dissolve the turmeric and salt in 125ml (2½ cup) warm water, then add the coconut milk.
2. In the rice cooker, combine the turmeric-coconut milk mixture and the remaining ingredients.
Add enough water to reach the 3-cup line in the pot. Stir to mix.
3. Turn the rice cooker on and let it cook.
4. When the rice is done, remove the lemongrass and leaves. Scoop onto a serving plate and
garnish with omelette ribbons, cucumber slices and shallots.
5. Serves: 6 portions
