SPECTROTONE COURSE
Lecture 4
Listening Guide
I've selected 6 pieces, 4 from the movies, to illustrate the points of this lesson. Hopefully you
have these in your soundtrack collection. If you don't, for your convenience I've researched and
found each on YouTube and have included an alternate performance for some. If you don't have
these, please look to purchase (or stream) legal MP3s from iTunes, Amazon or similar music
retailers.
To get the MOST out of this lecture, listen to each piece before you watch Video Lecture 4.

The Span of Orchestration Ensemble Tone Colors PDF can be found in your Lecture 4
folder for this Visual Orchestration #1 course.
The Span of Orchestration Chart is included with the Spectrotone Instrumental Tone-Color
Chart files. Look for the PDF labeled 01_WorkingWithSpectrotoneChart.pdf. The Span of
Orchestration Chart is on page 12 of that booklet.
